Le thé représente l'une des traditions du Drake Hotel. Le Palm Court sert le thé depuis les fêtes de fin d'année de 1982 et a reçu des personnalités telles que la défunte Princesse Diana et Hilary Clinton. En 1958, la reine Élizabeth a également pris le thé au Drake. La beauté unique de la salle s'organise autour d'une magnifique fontaine en pierre calcaire, ornée d'une énorme urne de 275 ans en son centre, un bronze français de David Williams. Le thé de l'après-midi jouit d'une ambiance exceptionnelle grâce aux concerts de harpe que donnent des musiciens en tenue de soirée du mercredi au dimanche.

Afternoon Tea

For those who love their afternoon teas fresh and steeped in history, Palm Court at The Drake Hotel serving tea for nearly a century is the quintessential Magnificent Mile afternoon tea experience. Even the Queen and Princess Diana have made their visits here. Your afternoon tea begins with a peruse of the Palais de Thes menu, which features 13 tea blends. Tea is served in individual tea pots accompanied by three tiered tea tray filled with an arrangement of gourmet finger sandwiches; delicious breads and scones; and dainty petit fours with accoutrement. The Prince & Princess Afternoon tea service, suitable for children between 4 and 12 years of age. Reservations are heavily encouraged. Full tea service seating duration is 90 minutes max.

This is a very nice place if you’re looking for a classic tea experience. The hotel is beautiful, and all of the waiters are friendly. However, everything is very antiquated and some things are in poor condition. We found it absolutely absurd that any restaurant in Chicago wouldn’t have air conditioning. We were sweating terribly on a 90 degree day and seriously wished someone had told us there was no air conditioning so that we could’ve cancelled. Tea was very good (we had the drake blend and the garden of dreams) but the food was underwhelming. Overall just a nice place if you want tea but can’t make it over to London. Otherwise, there are many amazing places to eat in the city for a far better price.

Our server was the best! He made the experience great, very sweet and attentive. Also very good about gluten free options. Overall I felt the sandwiches could’ve been better. Like a chicken salad vs. the slice chicken in the sandwich we received. Loved the live harp music, great ambiance:

Overall, very good experience. Service was slow and it seemed like the server forgot about us but it was still memorable.

We loved the afternoon tea at The Palm Court! The flowers were beautiful, and the fountain was very nice. The tea was good, and we truly enjoyed all of the food. You must visit the bathrooms. The Drake is a beautiful historic hotel, and we enjoyed perusing the hotel, too.

Loved everything about the experience. Great for a ladies’ afternoon. Our server was initially not welcoming but then warmed up. The tea and bites were really tasty. The savory portion of the menu was definitely not your usual afternoon tea menu, they had a twist on the traditional sandwiches and I really appreciated it. The ambience was really nice. The harpist played pop songs which gives this place a Bridgerton feel. Definitely worth it. Especially if you add a bottle of champagne to your experience

My experience at the Palm Court was truly outstanding. The food was delicious and fresh, i appreciated being able to reorder as needed. Everyone from the staff that we encountered was kind and helpful and looked happy to be there. I also very much enjoyed the harpist who was there for the weekend afternoon tea, it made the experience that much more elegant. An absolutely perfect experience

The ambiance was lovely. Beautiful room! The service was outstanding! Very attentive and making sure we wanted for nothing. Our water glasses were consistently refilled. Delicious tea choices as well as cocktails-I would like to have tried a cocktail but the tea was plenty. The 4 out of 5 rating was for the food which is the main event. The 4 of us felt that some of the savory offerings were lacking in texture and flavor. The shrimp salad sandwiches and the cucumber sandwiches were lovely. The texture of the scones need work, the accompanying toppings were delicious.
