Perched on the hillside offering panoramic views of The Cobb and Jurassic Coast, The Oyster & Fish House is arguably the most picturesque spot in Dorset to enjoy locally sourced fish and seafood. A large terrace wraps around the informal, light and airy dining room offering the perfect al fresco experience with unrivalled views of the coastline.

We support our local fishermen, so you may often see them bringing their catch up to the restaurant. In addition to a selection of snacks and starters, you can expect simply grilled fish on the bone, and of course, the delicious Dorset oysters and shellfish we have on our doorstep. The menu can change twice a day depending on what the fishermen bring to us. Please note we do not serve meat dishes, but we do have vegetarian, vegan and kids menus available.

Large tables are welcomed, and for bookings of 16 or more (including book outs) we ask for you to choose one of our seasonal feasts - designed to share.

For large parties or exclusive hire we offer feast menus which are designed to share. Choose our menus online or we can bespoke one just for you based on what is in season. We offer 3 sharing starters which are placed along the middle of the table, a sharing style main such mixed fish and seafood or surf and turf, and a large sharing-style pudding.

We welcome large parties in the restaurant - the largest table we can offer is a table of 20 guests. We also offer exclusive hire of the restaurant for parties and weddings, as well as being licensed for the wedding ceremony to take place in the restaurant or on the deck with the magnificent views of the Jurassic Coast and Cobb Harbour.

What a great evening - the scallops were superb and we shared the mixed fish it was all lovely. The staff were fabulous one had a difficult customer but she dealt with it very professionally. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening - yes it’s expensive but worth every penny!

The food was fabulous. Mixed grilled fish for 2 was delicious, & good value. Tomato & fennel salad was perfect with it. Chocolate mousse was glorious. Our only issue was a mistake on the bill, which it was fortunate we noticed.

Gorgeous food (and generous portions) in a lovely setting. A meal at Hix isn't cheap but its always special, and the quality is fantastic.

Enjoyed another lovely evening at The Oyster & Fish House. It's been over 4 years since we last came here, and was feeling slightly nervous having read some reviews. But it did not disappoint. Lovely ingredients put together with skill, producing simple but delicious dishes of food. A happy and polite service team, who even offered to taxi an older group of diners up the hill to the car park when they couldn't find a taxi (above & beyond). A genuinely lovely evening. Thank you Team O&FH.

All three course were lovely . Fritti Misto was very tasty , described well by waitress. The rayback was delicious , we requested that it be deboned by chef and he duly obliged. It was very well served, waitresses were friendly and helpful in their advice and recommendations.

Beautiful setting overlooking the Cobb. The food was lovely, fresh and beautifully cooked, however the service was slow and there wasn’t many people in the restaurant, service could of been better.
