Perched on the hillside offering panoramic views of The Cobb and Jurassic Coast, The Oyster & Fish House is arguably the most picturesque spot in Dorset to enjoy locally sourced fish and seafood. A large terrace wraps around the informal, light and airy dining room offering the perfect al fresco experience with unrivalled views of the coastline.

We support our local fishermen, so you may often see them bringing their catch up to the restaurant. In addition to a selection of snacks and starters, you can expect simply grilled fish on the bone, and of course, the delicious Dorset oysters and shellfish we have on our doorstep. The menu can change twice a day depending on what the fishermen bring to us. Please note we do not serve meat dishes, but we do have vegetarian, vegan and kids menus available.

Large tables are welcomed, and for bookings of 16 or more (including book outs) we ask for you to choose one of our seasonal feasts - designed to share.

    For large parties or exclusive hire we offer feast menus which are designed to share. Choose our menus online or we can bespoke one just for you based on what is in season. We offer 3 sharing starters which are placed along the middle of the table, a sharing style main such mixed fish and seafood or surf and turf, and a large sharing-style pudding.

    We welcome large parties in the restaurant - the largest table we can offer is a table of 20 guests. We also offer exclusive hire of the restaurant for parties and weddings, as well as being licensed for the wedding ceremony to take place in the restaurant or on the deck with the magnificent views of the Jurassic Coast and Cobb Harbour.

    A lovely early autumn supper. The seafood and fish platter was absolutely delicious . Only regret was that we had no room for chocolate mousse.

    My wife and I both enjoyed our meal very much. It is her birthday today and it was very nice to be served the chocolate mousse as a birthday present from the restaurant. In her words: “It made my day!” We will certainly visit the restaurant again next time we’re having a short break in Lyme.

    We visited the restaurant as a special treat and it lived up to expecting all respects. The staff were friendly and helpful and Mark Hix walked around and spoke to all the diners. Wonderful.

    As always, a wonderful lunch overlooking The Cobb. The mixed fish for two was excellent, and our waitresses made my daughter’s birthday treat a very special one.

    Our table was nearest to the entrance which was drafty until we requested the door to be closed. We ordered plaice and haddock dishes with accompaniments and both meals were disappointingly tastless. Would not recommend.
