Chilli chicken was nice but the hunter’s chicken was marinaded in bbq sauce rather than the sauce being on the dish which made it a bit dry. Standard chain hotel restaurant food. Don’t expect anything more.

Everything you would expect from a deluxe hotel restaurant. Good service, excellent food and reasonably priced.

Unbelievably overpriced for incredibly poor quality food. Had to send first dish back as it was stone cold, second replacement came and it wasn’t much better. Only good bit was the two younger lads working there who couldn’t have been more polite. Wish we’d gone to Miller and Carter instead if we’d realised it was there!

This review is based on the Sunday Carvery. The soup was pleasant, but lukewarm. Main course was verging on unpleasant, with very odd tasting soft roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese and parsnip - they all tasted kind of soapy! The cheese was good though. Not an experience I will be repeating any time soon.

It was “OK”. If I stay at the Courtyard again I will be looking to eat elsewhere.

Our meal was spoilt initially by a very noisy Christmas Party in the bar. After they had gone and things had quietened down, the food was unfortunately uninspiring. The options for a vegetarian were minimal, and the sweet potato salad that my wife ordered was very disappointing (quite difficult to find the tiny bits of sweet potato, and was therefore mainly lettuce). The serving staff were kind enough to take the cost of the salad off of our bill, but it was a disappointing experience nonetheless.

Basically we got what we paid for. It was cheap but The food was very poor quality. Meat was ok but all the vegetables were frozen veg. Not nice. Roast potatoes looked suspiciously like chunky chips. Yorkshires hadn’t seen an oven. They were soft & soggy. The white wine was warm. The best bit was the bread & butter pudding. Even though it’s cheap won’t be coming back.

my worst experience ever, it started as we arrived with the server stating that they where not ready due to breakfast over running, no water offered so asked for coffee while we waited told to make it our selves via a machine, waited 20 minutes before we could start with the carvery. we helped our selves too under cook cauliflower cheese with a water base and a thick layer of cheese on top, followed by mixed parsnips and carrots roasted to an inch of there lives. we moved on to the roast potatoes as stated by the sign above them but found chips they looked like chips and they smelt like chips. we where told by the server that they where potato wedges because the roast potatoes had not been delivered the day before ? we moved on to the meat section which was pork loin, rear beef, and chicken. all tasted good . gravy was on the side no other condiment's on offer, we ordered a bottle of white wine it was opened before it was bought to the table no taste offered when I went to pour the wine the bottle was warm two servers when ran around like headless chickens to find a ice bucket and ice this bid not in prove the wine or the food in any way. we did not try the bread and butter pudding due to lumpy custard. offered 20% off final bill. and it will be my final bill due to a large group of Muslim males who i believe are staying at the hotel felt it was ok to stare at my 14 year old daughter and wife and make comments about them in the car park. i would recommend any one to give this venue a very wide berth,

I have eaten at oxen bar and grill (carvery) twice both time's myself and partner have enjoyed it very much so it will be a regular thing it certainly is a really lovely place to eat staff are really nice and friendly
