The Ox Barn is a 56-seater destination restaurant under the direction of Head Chef, Charlie Hibbert. Rooted in a passion for the local land, food and entertaining, the carefully curated menus are farm-based and plant-inspired. His team and the gardeners at Thyme work together to select and grow the fruits, vegetables and herbs used to create his Modern British Countryside fare.

The nineteenth century former oxen house is the newest addition to the family of meticulously restored farm buildings. A state-of-the-art piece of agricultural architecture at its conception, Caryn Hibbert worked meticulously to preserve the soaring archways and original Cotswold stone rubble walls, to now house a modern, dining destination - including a contemporary bar and seven and a half metre Charvet open kitchen - to allow for an authentic, heritage-rich dining experience, enabled by today’s best culinary technologies.

We have just spent a fantastic weekend at Thyme. Everything about the place was perfect except for our anniversary dinner at the Ox Barn. Service was extremely slow - we were still waiting for our main courses more than an hour and a half after sitting down. The food was adequate but nowhere near special enough to justify the prices, and the markup on wines by the glass is truly eyewatering. They did give us desserts on the house but overall this was unfortunately the low point of a lovely stay. We ate at the Swan the following evening which was a far superior experience in every respect - better food, service and atmosphere and for much more reasonable prices.

A really beautiful setting for dinner. Friendly and helpful staff, and delicious food, seasonal and fresh. We love coming here as a treat now and again, the atmosphere always makes it feel like a special occasion.

Special occasion birthday meal. Great food but let down by very slow service. No idea who our actual waiter was - seemed like no one wanted to take ownership. After an hour and a half we still hadn’t had our main courses so I complained and we ended up getting dessert course for free - so at least there was a gesture - but for the prices we paid the service was woefully short of what should be expected.

Brilliant evening with friends from manhattan who couldn’t believe the beautiful style and divine cuisine in the middle of the countryside!!

Food is absolutely top quality & good sized portions, service very good, never rushed or empty waiting periods. A little expensive but we were delighted with the experience Brian

Beautiful venue. Really has a wow factor. The food was fabulous (especially that tempura!) and desserts were mouth watering. As a minus we found the background music loud and quite ‘disco’ like which seemed odd inside an old barn. After a while we did switch off to it. Some people might like this energising music but I would prefer it around a cocktail bar and something quieter at dinner

The service was terrible. There were 3 tables occupied, and 4 members of staff who were more interested in talking to each other with their backs to the tables than serving. The bread eventually arrived when we were served our food so we sent it back. The chips were served late. We were charged for the bread on our bill. Service is automatically included on the bill and was not justified in any way. Back to The Bell at Langford!
