The Ox Barn is a 56-seater destination restaurant under the direction of Head Chef, Charlie Hibbert. Rooted in a passion for the local land, food and entertaining, the carefully curated menus are farm-based and plant-inspired. His team and the gardeners at Thyme work together to select and grow the fruits, vegetables and herbs used to create his Modern British Countryside fare.

The nineteenth century former oxen house is the newest addition to the family of meticulously restored farm buildings. A state-of-the-art piece of agricultural architecture at its conception, Caryn Hibbert worked meticulously to preserve the soaring archways and original Cotswold stone rubble walls, to now house a modern, dining destination - including a contemporary bar and seven and a half metre Charvet open kitchen - to allow for an authentic, heritage-rich dining experience, enabled by today’s best culinary technologies.

We ate outside in the wonderful garden on one of the rare fine days this Summer. This is a fabulous setting, complemented by excellent service and superb food. Yes, it is expensive but this quality must come at a price. We are lucky enough to be local and will be back soon.

Food was outstanding. They accommodated numerous food allergies gracefully. Gorgeous building and atmosphere in a stunning setting. A memorable meal coordinated cheerfully by the staff.

2 of us went lunch time for birthday. The lunch 3 courses was very good value and very nice. The risotto was excellent. Only small comments next table had 2 very young children that from time to time made more noise than they should in a nice restaurant. They also had a dog which barked loudly at another dog . Beautiful gardens only thing the restaurant can do to improve is to buy some descent chairs in the garden . We sat outside for 3 hrs on uncomfortable, small metal chairs. Would have been so much nicer with lovely comfy chairs with arm nice cushions.

We were bringing guests yet again and I was very disappointed by the greeting on arrival .. the man in the restaurant reception was NOT welcoming and not at all helpful.. we ordered a bottle of champagne and some nibbles which we had to wait for for quite some considerable time too. Not the best start and very off putting… lunch was ok.. I was not expecting a pre fix menu which was not very inspiring nevertheless the food was good and after a few words with maybe a manager the service improved .. this is second time I’ve had just an ok time at the ox barne .. hopefully third time lucky ??!!!!!! It will be a while before I return

Great good, attentive but not overbearing staff. Lunch in a beautiful setting in the olive tree terrace..just lovely. Will be back!
