   The Ostrich Club continues to prove why it’s one of our favourite spots in the city. As people who travel (and eat) with intention — from tucked-away wine bars in Europe to Michelin-starred tasting menus — this place still manages to surprise and delight in all the right ways. This cozy little spot in the North End (bonus: it’s walkable for us!) toes the line between sexy cocktail bar and elevated neighbourhood restaurant… and nails it. We popped in for what was supposed to be “just a drink” (LOL, classic us) and ended up swooning over Old Fashioneds crafted by Lindsay (the bar magician), a perfect wine pour, and a lineup of small plates that honestly deserve their own spotlight. Let’s talk about the mushroom parfait. It straight-up rivalled the Michelin-star mushroom mousse we had recently, and that’s not hyperbole. We're talking Lukes Small Goods sourdough, onion jam, oloroso sherry, pickled mushrooms — all the umami, none of the pretension. And then there was the ice cream. Caramelized onion ice cream with stewed plums. Sounds weird. Tastes like a buttery, nutty, caramelesque religious experience. The vibe? Effortlessly cool — like the kind of place you could bring a date, meet friends, or sit solo at the bar and feel completely at ease. Service is top-tier: attentive without hovering, polished without stiffness. That rare fine-dining-meets-neighbourhood-bar combo. Would I go back? Hell yes. I want to eat my way through the whole menu and probably write a sonnet about that parfait. Five stars. Zero notes. Just go.

   Always a phenomenal experience cocktails were amazing the wine was outstanding, and the food! Food was amazing could taste all flavours of each dish.

   Our go to when we visit our daughter in Halifax Alana and Lindsay are both creative with the cocktail and wine list They also love Taylor Swift!

   What a truly unique and lovely dining experience. Cocktails were perfect, food choices were plentiful and delicious! Service was outstanding and ambiance was perfect for an amazing, non-traditional, Sunday evening dinner.

   We had not been to Ostrich Club for quite a while. Although last time was good, last night was great. The food, wine, service, ambiance were all excellent. Totally enjoyed the evening. Thank you

   I brought a colleague here for their first time and it was such a special experience. I have been here many times before and no matter if it's a quick drop in for a drink or a really special occasion, I always feel incredibly well taken care of. Wine selections (as always) were perfection and our experience was made even better because our meal was curated to the wines we chose. This level of detail is a rare find and we are so lucky to have this place in our city!

    Always a pleasure! We had the bread, dumplings, and agnolotti - none should be missed. Dessert was also a highlight: the chocolate. The perfect amount of sweet to end the meal. Drinks were delicious and top quality. Can’t find a better place in Halifax!
