Nothing delights quite like The Orator, serving up contemporary British food, cocktails, beer and wine. Set in a stunning Victorian gothic venue with high ceilings bathed in swathes of natural light.

We can offer private dining for up to 20 in our private Dining Room used to host guests of the Cambridge Union Society, recently including Dua Lipa and Robert de Niro. For larger groups, we have a number of different rooms throughout the venue to cater for any occasion.

Really excellent food - only real annoyance was that the special cocktail (with a big advert on display) wasn’t available as they had run out of some of the ingredients; we booked that afternoon for 7.30 and there was plenty of availability so it didn’t seem that they were overwhelmed. Additionally, one of the items was off the menu but we weren’t told that up front so discovered when trying to order it. Otherwise, the experience was good and I’d recommend if you want a non-chain restaurant

Fantastic venue let down by confused service and unavailable menu and drink choices. Could have been so much better with a bit of care and attention.

Very nice restaurant in the centre of Cambridge. Staff/ service is outstandingly polite; very family friendly. Food is very good as well and the garden adds to its values.

Food was nice, no one checked my booking so I had to tell them I had arrived as I was sat outside. Outside space is lovely when weather permits

We were outside, I didn’t realise that if you ordered on the online menu, everything would come at once. It would be helpful to have been informed before. We has starters, drinks & main that all arrived immediately- wish they had not! Realised it was my fault….

Great food and ambiance but the service was lacking. It wasn’t that busy so I expected more attention but had to chase the staff down to get my order in and then chased again for getting more drinks. That was annoying but otherwise the food and the atmosphere was lovely. Also note that if you want to eat outside you can only order snacks and not the full menu.
