The food and the service were excellent. It was my bday and they had a birthday menu and gave us a free dessert. The service was so nice and friendly and helpful. The food was delicious as always. The shrimp "sopping toast", the oysters, deviled eggs - chefs kiss. The whole flounder and the broccoli were delicious. We left full and happy.

The family went out for a birthday dinner, and based on the menu we were intrigued by the good selection of seafood options. We were not let down at all. Luna was our server and provided good insight to the dishes. We started with the ceviche and some oysters, all was very good. Our family ordered dishes including the flounder, artic char, and Iberico pork. Then we included a couple of sides with the hush puppies and smoked fish fried rice. I cannot express how delighted we were with all of our selections. We left very happy and look forward to going back.

Great service and nice ambiance. Food…An extremely limited menu. I had the skate wing. It was $34 of over-fried grease. I’ve had this fish elsewhere and this was the worst. My wife had the char and it was very good. Everything else was mediocre. Side came out after we were almost finished with the entree. And, be prepared to buy a bottle of wine if you don’t like 1 of the 2 selections offered “by the glass”. Doubt we’d go back again or recommend. $207 for 2 people, while not unusual, is too much for the experience we had.

The optimist is a great place to enjoy seafood. Fairly expensive for some choices. Staff is great and the chef top-notch. Recommend folks not avoid the Optimist but be prepared for the cost/quantity imbalance (IMHO).

We had a fantastic experience. The food is a real treat and the sauces are so good. Our server, Brian, was terrific. He is very knowledgeable of the menu and attentive to our needs. The Optimist is a must do!

Excellent service from staff members Gabby & Ryan. Really went above and beyond even though busy from the time we walked in, greeted us, found time to be personable, and had recommendations for drinks.

This place was more than amazing!!! The ambiance was great and the welcoming staff was absolutely fantastic. Luna, our server, had great energy and had us laughing and smiling the entire time! Luna gave recommendations and every single drink/dish an absolute hit! Definitely coming back here anytime I visit nashville.
