The Optimist was the perfect place for a birthday dinner. I got my seafood fix, and the staff was knowledgeable with recommendations, knew all about the oysters, and were friendly and engaging without interrupting any conversations. I love the halibut and the trout dip every time, but the seasonal beets that our waiter recommended were AMAZING!!! For my birthday, I got to pick a complimentary dessert of my choosing. The table all had a bite of the chocolate pudding cake which was insanely good. If you are thinking about booking The Optimist for a special occasion, the experience I had on Saturday makes me confident that you won’t regret it!

This is one of - if not - our favorite place in town. We come back again and again. And love to have visiting friends and family come with. Why? The food is outstanding and they have the best seasonal dishes! The ambience is on point. It’s vibey and still comfortable for any date or group. Not to even mention the service is top notch. We’ve experienced many staff and they are all high caliber. They go above and beyond to make your meal and enjoyable experience to remember. 10/10

One of the best dining experiences we have ever had. We have been to The Optimist many times, but this time was special. First off, our server was phenomenal. She gave us the perfect amount of attention, while at the same time, allowed us to enjoy our dinner together. Her recommendations were spot on, and she knew the menu well. The food was incredible as always, but here’s where it gets special. I asked her about a cocktail that was previously on the menu, and she said she would talk to the bartender. A few minutes later she came back and said the manager was looking it up and would have it to me shortly. The drink came and it was perfect. Midway through our dinner, the manger came over to check if the cocktail was correct. She then pulls out a card with the recipe for me to have so I can make the cocktail whenever I want. But it didn’t stop there. At the end of our dinner, Allison, the restaurant GM, invited me to come over to the bar and had the bartender make the drink in front of me, showing me some tips for getting it just right. They could have just said, we no longer offer that cocktail, but instead they provided an experience we will never forget!

Amazing from start to finish. Every item we had was delicious. Make sure to order a piece of coconut pie. The only issue we had was I ordered a piece of pie to go, but I left before they brought back to the table, because I forgot i ordered it. Man I was hot with myself all night. That's how good it was.

We had an excellent experience. I had the most delicious beet salad I've ever had. The Red Fish entree was pan seared just right. The flavors were fantastic. I am usually not a raw oyster person, but the oysters were so fresh, that I actually enjoyed them. The coconut pie was heavenly.

I was so excited to try this resturant bc I’ve only heard great things. It didn’t disappoint. They had valet! Bonus. Drinks and service were top notch. Waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu. Some of the items we ordered and loved were the red fish, pear salad, beat starter. The ambience is great too! This is a seafood forward resturant so if your a seafood lover, don’t miss it!

Went to The Optimist to celebrate our 18 year wedding anniversary and it did NOT disappoint!! It was one of the best dinners we have had in awhile. Every bite was perfection. The oysters, tuna poke, the rolls 🤤, deviled eggs, chowder, scallops, lobster roll, mushrooms & coconut pie - ALL PERFECTION! Not a single critique, note or complaint. When I made the reservation it asked if we were celebrating anything and I noted our anniversary. And we felt celebrated the whole evening - from being greeted by the hostess with a "happy anniversary", to having "happy anniversary" stamped on our menus (which are dated bc the menus are updated regularly) to our server greeting us right away with it and a folded heart menu with the date showing given to us at the end of the night amongst other the little things. Our server was great and it felt like we had chosen the perfect spot to celebrate. We will absolutely recommend to others and will definitely be back. There are still so many things I would like to try!
