Great service, food selection was a bit limited. Bigger selection would be nicer.

We dined pre-concert at the Optimist right when they opened and right off the bat, the service was incredible and the ambience was top-notch. We got half a dozen oysters, the octopus and deviled eggs for apps, eggs and octo were incredible but all of the oysters all had shell shards in them which was a big turn off. For entrees we got the swordfish and fish and chips. The entrees unfortunately fell very flat, especially for the price point. The fish on both dishes was overcooked and dry and the swordfish was very small and honestly, looked very unappetizing bc it was just brown and white dish mush. It really could have used a garnish of some sort to brighten it up! He did suggest a vegetable side but $14 for asparagus or broccoli is kind of insane when just the protein is $40 so we passed. Side note, the octopus was a little spicy for our 15yr old (just a personal preference, I loved it) and our server threw in some hush puppies for her later on since she couldn’t eat the app. It was super kind of him and those hush puppies were to die for! Overall a good experience but based on the prior reviews and price point, I expected it to knock our socks off and left disappointed.

Great staff, great vibes, and excellent food! The complimentary rolls were to die for. Highly recommend!

The ambiance and food quality were excellent although the food portions were rather small especially for the price!

We had a wonderful experience for my husband’s Birthday dinner at The Optimist! We arrived an hour before our reservations and Gabby was a wonderful bartender! She suggested great options and had a pleasant and professional attitude, making our first impression fabulous! When seated at our table, Jason made the best suggestions, some of which we wouldn’t have considered, and also had a great energy and attitude. Try the eggplant! All the fish options were stellar! I loved my Mahi with blue crab. And the coconut pie was wonderful. Not too sweet, just right sweet! It’s such a rarity these days when you go to an expensive dinner and have the wait staff make your experience just as amazing as the food! We will be recommending The Optimist to our circle and will for sure be back! Thank you for a great night!

We had an incredible server; she was fun, knowledgeable, and made us feel like we were her only table. We were most certainly not! The Optimist is lucky to have her. The bar turned out gorgeous cocktails, oysters were fabulous, and we tasted our way through starts and entrees and sides. Get the Shrimp a la plancha! And the hush puppies side was delightful! If you haven’t been, go! Only negative… the music… it didn’t match the vibe.

Another wonderful experience at The Optimist! Our server was so friendly and on point. The food was absolutely incredible. I just love this restaurant and I am blown away at their consistency.

Amazing experience. Food quality was excellent. Service is always great. Bread service Is legendary. Normally go to the original on in Atlanta.
