We do not live in Nashville, but this is a return visit because The Optimist was pretty darn awesome the first time we went there a year ago. Good news--still awesome. Husband loved the oysters (although I'm not sure he's ever met an oyster he didn't like). The wine list is pretty expensive but we did manage to find a $44 dollar bottle that worked for us. We shared the redfish entree and the broccolini side. Note to self, adding a smoky, bacony flavor to fish dramatically improves the taste profile. Broccolini is not a particular favorite of ours but the kitchen managed to make this version quite tasty. Our service could not have been better. In summary, we'll be back the next time we're in Nashville.

Awesome food and service! Must get the shrimp with the chili butter! Fiancé believe the scallops are her go to birthday dinner from now on. Highly recommend the warm chocolate pudding cake.

This was great! Recommended by a friend. Waiter was great - started with chowder...then on to the mahi with the hush puppies. Should have stopped but also ordered the chocolate cake (with almonds and vanilla ice cream). My wife had the scallops, and started with the octopus...ended with the pineapple upside down cake. Everything tasted great....even the bread that came out early. Try to get there early and have a drink at the bar before you are seated.

Outstanding customer service. It starts as you are greeted upon arrival and it continues when you leave. Our Server Brian A. was outstanding in menu & wine recommendations. We had another great dinner. We love the vibe of the restaurant. The Optimist never disappoints!!!

The Optimist is my favorite Nashville restaurant. The food is phenomenal and the vibe is immaculate. We also ventured to the bar upstairs for dessert and a nightcap and was blown away. It’s a great night out and I can’t recommend enough!
