I ate at this restaurant 2 nights in a row. The first time was because it was close to my Air BnB and the second because I had wonderful food the first night! I was suffering big time from jet lag when I wandered in with no reservation. I was seated at a table near the door but had very attentive service. I had a wonderful soup of the day (butternut squash) with a bit of cheese (a special request as I didn't want the plate with 3 cheeses), great bread and a side of broccoli with garlic. Then I had the best salad I have had during my 2+ week trip in the UK - goat cheese with mixed greens and pomegranate seeds! I made a reservation and went back the next night. I had the house salad (which was wonderful though minus cheese), a lamb entree with a bit of black pudding (not bad) and a white chocolate cheesecake with passion fruit topping for dessert! I feel like I gained 5lbs on my trip despite walking 5 miles a day. If all of my meals had been as good as my meal at the Olive Branch, I wouldn't feel too bad about it. I also appreciated that I was well treated as a solo traveler. Hope to visit Edinburgh again and eat at the Olive Branch again!!!

This restaurant is in a good location so it’s good for meeting friends. The food is quite good and the prices what you would expect. However every time we go there the service is slow. They are understaffed. And the tables are far too crowded. Anyone who is above the average weight would struggle to squeeze into their seat.

Very nice meal, enjoyed by both of us. Very pleasant staff. Not the cheapest meal in town but I would say good value.

Absolutely fabulous food, super friendly staff as a cherry on top. Honestly one of the best meals I had in Edinburgh since moving here 4 years ago
