The Historical Old Siege House in Colchester is the ideal venue for a small intimate meal or a large family get together ! Owned and run by Husband and wife team since 2014 it has a warm atmosphere and relaxed vibe.
We can provide extensive menus depending on your events, ranging from Afternoon teas to Hog roasts.
Our main menu changes seasonally and we also run a set lunch menu which is great value and changes every two weeks.
The restaurant can accomodate up to 160 covers inside and a further 50 outside so you will not be cramped for space. We have a private dining room for hire and a large bar and lounge area where you can enjoy some lovely made to order cocktails or a chilled bottle of wine.
Live music and events are regularly held and details will be posted on our various social media outlets.
We are proud holders of an elite 5 star food hygiene award for 3 consecutive 5 star visits in a row from the local council and pride ourselves on our hygiene levels.

Gluten free options brilliant overall, but I was excited to try the ‘variety of breads’ which was optional to be gluten free. I’m used to limited bread options, but it was a shame it was just all sliced white. Would appreciate maybe a few different options or rolls, as these could be easily frozen by restaurant for Coeliac customers.meal and service was excellent.

Came last night for a meal - hadn’t been to the siege house in years. Starter was really good, I then had steak for main but it wasn’t the best unfortunately - plus presentation of the steak could have been better. The place does have a nice atmosphere and our waitress was really helpful and friendly.

Went here with girlfriend for Valentine’s Day. The food was good, the prices were fair (£35 for three courses) and the staff were excellent. Their cocktails are prepared well also with the right amount of alcohol. Will definitely return.

Superb soup, perfectly prepared salmon, delicately delicious tart. Such a fabulous lunch; would go back time and time again if I were local!

Four of us booked for Sunday lunch, we were greeted straightaway and taken to our table. Service was excellent and food great.

Arrived at 7.45pm for an 8pm booking, wasn’t taken to the table until we asked staff ourselves after 8pm. Seated upstairs where there is a very cold draft in front of the stairs. Waited 45 minutes for our food to arrive and weren’t offered any nibbles or any explanations as to why. My partners beef cheek was unsatisfactory and a service charge was added despite not asking. Also anniversary occasion was ignored despite making it known on the booking

Our sea bass on a crab and pea risotto with lobster bisque sauce was to die for. Sooo good, and a very reasonable price.
