In the village of Ridge, set between Shenley and Potters Bar and dating back to 1826, The Old Guinea offers outstanding views of Hertfordshire countryside, with 150 garden and 50 internal seats- all offering good social distancing. Our varied menu offers choices to satisfy every taste with our famous pizzas, made with traditional fresh dough every day, Al forno dishes, salads and delicious ‘special’ options. Gluten-free and vegan choices are available and a children’s menu is offered. A large selection of good wines, beers, cocktails and real ales complete our offering. Families are welcome and the garden and bar is a dog friendly area.

Another lovely afternoon at the old Guinea. The food is always delicious as are the cocktails. A wonderful setting to look out on whilst eating.

Lovely venue- clean and spacious - food was delicious and staff were attentive…. At full dining capacity parking was a little problematic and we had to park quite a way along country road. But overall worth visiting again

We had a lovely lunch here. The outside space is lovely with fantastic calm views. It helped that the sun was shining. Food was great and so was the service

We had a very nice evening sitting outside looking over the countryside alongside a few families with their dogs. The staff are very friendly and the food was tasty.

The manageress is rude and unwilling to compromise They insist on mains order at the same time of starters order and we explained that it’s not possible as we don’t know how hungry we would be until we eat our starters and will decide post starters She’s just stubborn and not willing to assist and the restaurant was not even full or busy

They have crammed so many tables in that the acoustics are terrible and you can’t actually hear each other speak on a table of 4. The food was ok - not as good as it used to be - not sure if has changed hands. Overall 7/10 is generous.

Understaffed, too many diners, too noisy and poor food. Service from the staff excellent given how overworked they were. Mansgement didn’t care. Avoid on weekend evenings - better for brunch or a light lunch.

It was my first time at Old Guinea and it was nice to be in a splendid environment and had tasty meals, however, the noise level was too much. Anyways the experience was memorable. I will definitely go back again soon.
