Dining at The Old Deanery is an immersive experience, and you move through the building as you dine. Arrive into the cosy welcome lounge for pre-dinner drinks; chat, get comfortable, and relax – there will be no classical piano and hushed tones in here! Move through to the bar where you can watch some of the chefs work before they invite you to take your first course. The main event takes place in the restaurant, but forget white tablecloths and stilted service; the food may be formal but the atmosphere is not. Finally, you can retire after dinner to a cosy chair and enjoy a coffee and petits fours. Stay the night and enjoy views of either the lovely garden, or striking Cathedral. Then wake to a home-made breakfast board of granola, yoghurt, continental bites, and cooked goodness: A breakfast with a difference and the best way to sign off your stay.

Tasting Menu £90 with a £40 per person pre-paid deposit to secure the booking. Cancellations can be made up to 48hr before the table. If cancelled within the 48hr period the deposit will be lost. Head Chef Adam Jackson's Signature Tasting Menu created with seasonal ingredients from local suppliers. Due to the intricacy of our Tasting Menu and our small kitchen team we will not be able to cater for vegan guests or lactose free diners. All other allergies can be catered for.

Possibly the best eating experience of my life! The staff are outstanding, the taster menu was brilliant. Not kidding, this place is a gem!

Our Sunday lunch was delicious. From the moment we arrived we felt special and the atmosphere around the whole building was one of calm. The service was very good and, even though the staff were busy, the two ladies who were serving the food, were very attentive. We felt it was exceptional value for money and will certainly be returning.

I took my sister for her 60 th birthday for Sunday lunch. It’s the first time I have been there. I was googling Sunday lunch in ripon and it came up. It’s the best Sunday lunch I have ever had. For starter I had a goats cheese with Isle of Wight tomatoes with a salsa, it was so delicious. The beef and all the really tasty vegetables was superb, the beef tasted just like beef use too years ago. Then to finish a delicious baked cheesecake with a strawberry compote. The staff were so lovely and attentive. A very special find. And I will definitely be going again.

Another exceptional meal at The Old Deanery! Delicious Easter Sunday lunch, the haddock & Isle of Wight tomato starter was perfection, followed by melt in the mouth beef and then a naught chocolate & raspberry mousse to finish. Bravo to you all. All the team are welcoming and knowledgeable. Thoroughly recommended! 🙌

Had a wonderful Sunday lunch. Each of the three courses were delicious. Attentive service. I will definitely be back to try the tasting menu.
