Samuel Squires, our award winning Head Chef at The Old Crown Coaching Inn, has devised a range of menus for the hotel where you can enjoy three different types of cuisines and atmospheres in our restaurant, wine bar & public bar area.

To the rear of the hotel, you will find our 80 seater restaurant. Where you can enjoy terrific food carefully crafted with an innovative twist on fine dining.

Our Wine & Cocktail bar at the heart of The Crown offers a range of fine wines, cocktails and sharing platters, such as our charcuterie boards.

Finally, our main bar offers a more relaxed experience where you can enjoy a delicious meal off our pub menu.

The service was excellent,, friendly bar and waiting staff. No real waiting time on service or the food. The meals were well presented and warm maybe a tad expensive for what they were they were. We had a choice of seating areas…each had their own ambience so great for with a chat and a meal with a friend or a more romantic type meal. Like Arnie I will be back .

Sent pork back it was cold and I don’t know how they did this but undercooked and overcooked at the same time. Serve xe spotty

I expect the level of service to be much higher if I’m paying this amount of money. Drinks were ordered and forgotten. I think it’s overpriced, especially as you have young waitresses that were clueless!

Airy and spacious room. Food very good, winelist appropriate. Main course very large and very tasty. Noise levels acceptable but noticeable. Service good but needed to request condiments.

What a lovely evening! When you first walk into the pub, it looks very much like any old, country pub but once you walk through to the back bar, past the court yard and into the ballroom it becomes very special. Food was excellent, staff were friendly and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend!

What a charming, unassuming, beautifully decorated place. We went for a 10-person family lunch. Everyone was super welcoming and made us feel at home right away. The food was sublime and loved by everyone. You know it’s a great kitchen when the gravy is sticky from the reduction of bone broth in it, the beef is pink and juicy, the potatoes are actually roasted (not deep fried!) and the vegetables are al-dente. The pan fried cod was also a portion cut from a very big fish (giant flakes) and was expertly cooked. We would likely make a special trip to Faringdon just to revisit this pub. Next time we’d try sitting in the quaint courtyard, just to mix things up.

The A La Carte menu had a fantastic range of dishes from which our party thoroughly enjoyed. An extensive wine list is also available to pair with the food. Lovely experience dining here.

Lovely experience, but for a Sunday roast, one small piece of carrot and en even smaller piece of parsnip is not good enough, and please, no need for baked / fried lettuce… impossible to cut with a standard knife and fork. Meat was beautifully cooked. Staff were young and inexperienced m, but worked hard. Cost on the day was about right.

The menu that was provided to us the day before our visit looked outstanding and the food didn't disappoint, in fact it exceeded all our expectations. In fact I have recently been to a Michelin star restaurant and the food at The Crown was so much better, as was the service. We had a great cocktail to start and the white burgundy I ordered was superb at at a reasonable price. Apparently the Epicurean tasting menu changes every 6 weeks and we look forward to going again in a few weeks.
