Samuel Squires, our award winning Head Chef at The Old Crown Coaching Inn, has devised a range of menus for the hotel where you can enjoy three different types of cuisines and atmospheres in our restaurant, wine bar & public bar area.

To the rear of the hotel, you will find our 80 seater restaurant. Where you can enjoy terrific food carefully crafted with an innovative twist on fine dining.

Our Wine & Cocktail bar at the heart of The Crown offers a range of fine wines, cocktails and sharing platters, such as our charcuterie boards.

Finally, our main bar offers a more relaxed experience where you can enjoy a delicious meal off our pub menu.

Delightful dinner at The Old Crown Coaching Inn on their Thursday Supper Club. The main was roasted cauliflower with pomegranate, mint, and tahini. Absolutely delightful, the flavours were superb. The OH doesn't like cauliflower, but his plate was clean! The hake was perfectly cooked, soft and moist, and the samphire wasn't too salty. Having eaten at an Oxford College (the food was mostly delicious there I have to say) where the samphire was so salty it was almost inedible, this was somewhat of a revelation I have to admit! The Chocolate Delice for desert was strongly flavoured but neither too bitter nor too sweet, and the coffee ice cream was scrumptious. The OH said he'd happily buy a bucketful. For the first time eating out after abdominal surgery it was fantastic. Light, flavoursome, delicious, satisfying. What more can I say?

Superb second visit. We came for Sunday lunch with my elderly grandfather Michael, who loved every second of his visit and I quote “felt like royalty”. We were served by Seb and what we can only presume is his brother. Both were superb and we were recommended a lovely bottle of red by seb. On to the food, well what can we say we shouldn’t have left it so long since our last visit, the starters we had were delightful and the roasts we had were second to none. Outstanding as always and thank you to the team from the crown for a memorable visit. We cannot wait to be back

Access is poor, especially for disabled or limited mobility

We’ve taken significant steps to accommodate individuals with limited mobility and have many loyal guests who enjoy their time with us. That said, we recognise the challenges posed by the nature of our 500-year-old listed building, which does present some limitations. My dining experience was exceptional and exceeded all expectations. The rib eye steak I ordered was cooked flawlessly to a perfect medium rare, just as I requested. It was incredibly juicy and tender, bursting with flavor. The accompanying salad was equally impressive—fresh, vibrant, and delicious. The service we received was outstanding, making the entire meal truly memorable. I highly recommend this place for an excellent culinary experience.

Visited here on the 10th of August and i must say that first impressions were very good, the whole venue was very busy but that didn't detract from the whole atmosphere. The Ballroom restaurant was decorated very lovely and created a lovely atmosphere, overall it was not that busy in the restaurant. Service was very prompt and very friendly and one of the young ladies waitressing then did a stint on the piano which i must say was amazing. My only criticism would be that the food although very good is in my opinion overpriced as you have to order side dishes to make up the meal in some cases for example i had the pork belly which is priced at £28 but when you factor in potatoes and veg at around £6-8 per serving this would come out at £40+. Despite that the food was very good and i would still visit again and recommend

Food was amazing. Just a shame the service was not. Ordered from the menu and mine was not available. Surely should have been told this at the start. I had to ask for a wine list. I had to ask to order the wine as did not come back. 5 minutes later she came back too check which one again. Three quarters through my main course it still had not arrived so I had to order it again.

I can't tell if it's inflation or real but the food felt very over priced. The website sells this as fine dining, but the food is relatively straight forward pub fayre done ok. My steak was supposed to be medium rare but came out well done, we weren't provided kids menus, the waiter didn't seem to know his stuff... its an experience I expect of pub food, but not of the advertised experience. If the price was lower or the advertising a bit less focused on high end I would be happy with this. It wasn't bad, just didn't line up. I was also surprised that having smashed a glass down my back, we weren't offered anything at all like drinks on the house or whatever... again, accidents happen, everything was fine but... just not what I expected. If you want decent food and the price looks OK to you, nice environment, then go for it!
