Great food, we had sandwiches and they were great but on the large side which isn’t a bad thing but will know for future. Waitress was attentive and checked in a couple of times. All round great food , great service will return in the future.

Have had previous good experiences here but today’s Sunday dinner was really disappointing. Cold plates, cold and undercooked vegetables, roast potatoes were soggy and pale, chicken was cooked but pale and bland. Service was polite but slow, the waitress did say sorry when told everything was cold and undercooked but didn’t do anything other than that, just said it was ‘chaotic today’. Really expected a lot better given the price and previously having had nice meals here.

This was a very disappointing night out. We travelled a long way by taxi to meet friends but if we had driven, we would have left straight away. The place felt neglected and the owner was not on the premises. It was bitterly cold and the young staff firstly told me the heating was on but they didn’t know how to control it, then said it could only be controlled on the owner’s phone and they would have to ring him but didn’t. Finally I was told it was broken. I wasn’t the only person who had to keep my coat on. The staff were friendly but inexperienced and they had run out of things but didn’t tell us before they brought the food. The food was very average and we weren’t offered a dessert. There is no atmosphere in the restaurant and we had to ask for the nearly burnt out tea lights to be lit. While we were eating, a band was tuning up in the bar and then played loud music. The music had drawn in a younger crowd so probably the pub should concentrate on being a music venue rather than a restaurant. It was a miserable evening.

We booked a late setting and had a drink in the bar before going into the restaurant. Joan, the chef came out and spoke with us & other diners. She advised us what was good on the menu. We both had the roast beef which was cooked to perfection and the chef gave us some pork to try, which had been slow cooked, it was so juicy & tender. The staff Lilly & Lidia were really helpful & told us about an Elton John tribute singer who was at the pub. We stayed and watched the singer which was brilliant. The pub had a friendly, relaxed ambience, a great atmosphere and all the staff were lovely. A good cocktail list too. Definitely worth a visit especially when they have live music xx

Lovely lunch for four of us. Not too keen on the chips. Lovely venue. Service good, just lacking a bit of ambiance/atmosphere

Ooh! I am still thinking about the steak and stilton sandwich I had on a recent Wednesday afternoon in the lovely garden at The Oat Hill 😋 delicious doesn't cover it😋 We were a group of 4 adults, the other 3 had burgers chips and salad. All 4 of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals, the lovely attitude of our server and the manager & the general atmosphere of The Oat Hill, we'll be back!

A good menu variety for Sunday lunch served promptly. Good quality food and excellent service in a superb setting. On a very hot day, the room was pleasantly cool.

My booking was for 1.30pm. We were unable to order what we had chosen off the menu we were given as they had given us both the lunch menu and the evening menu. Apparently the chef is only capable of preparing our choices in the evening! We reordered and by 2.15pm we were still waiting for our meals. The waitress explained to us this was because a table of 20 had just arrived. So we cancelled our meals but still had to pay in full for our drinks we wouldn't have ordered if we had known we were not going to get served.

Quite disappointing. Food was over priced for what you actually get. Potatoes and eggs were undercooked. Thai broth prawns tasted yoghurt in water. Pasta had far too much cream in it. Lady that served us was lovely but we sadly won't be rushing back for the food.

Good Sunday roast, a bit quiet at 12:30 but there were a few more tables as we were walking out. I had a chocolate mousse pyramid for dessert which was lovely.
