In the late 1800's, the Townsend family came to Chippewa Lake and created the estate that is now The Oaks Lakeside Restaurant. Five prominent oaks that stood in a semi-circle on the front lawn gave the estate its original name: Five Oaks. The estate has operated as a dining establishment and bar since 1961.

The Oaks has become best known for the glorious wedding ceremonies and receptions held exclusively on the property. We are also well known for our traditional Easter, Mother's Day and Thanksgiving Buffets. We take pride in all of our social and business events that we host.

The Oaks offers the finest in al fresco lakeside dining. In the colder months, join us and have a seat next to one of our cozy fires or a lake view table to watch the fall colors or a gentle snow over the lake. No matter what time of year, the sunsets are always incredible. Our seats are often limited, so reservations are advised.

    Let us do all the work while you enjoy your family and friends. Our wonderful Thanksgiving buffet will be the perfect opportunity with turkey, ham, prime rib, salmon, cod, chicken, an array of side dishes, appetizers and desserts. We will be seating from 11 am to 3:30 pm. The price is $60 for adults, $27 for children 6 - 12 and children 5 and under are free. There will be tax and a 20% gratuity added to all checks (this is non negotiable). Please call for a reservation for a party of 7 or more. (330) 769-2601.

    You are given a choice of vegetable and a “starch.” I ordered vegetable rice w/vegetables—it tasted like sbeef bouillon had been poured over it and veggies were minuscule. The crème brûlée was grainy and runny. The waitress was attentive, concerned and didn’t charge for the crème brûlée.

    The setting is lovely. The service was excellent. I had the eggs Benedict Bacon which was good. The side potatoes were average.

    I had an incredible time with my friends dining at The Oaks! I love a beautiful picturesque atmosphere there with the beautiful view of the Chippewa Lake. The menu is delicious, lots of fun rooms for dining. Good in the afternoon and in the evening. Can’t wait to dine there also during the Christmas season. Marina.

    The ambiance at the oaks is outstanding it is a beautiful setting. Our service and food has always been great and the menu this summer has been increased in both variety and value.

    We arrived at 8 pm and were seated at a small table on the patio. The restaurant was busy but the tables were not all full. The lights were very bright and there were a ton of bugs everywhere. There was a musician playing a guitar and singing. He was ok but not great. The hostess brought us water and menus and told us our server would be there soon. A second hostess said the same thing a few minutes later. After waiting for 25 minutes with no server and nothing but water we started to discuss whether we should stay or go. We could not find anyone to talk to about our situation so after another five minutes we got up and walked out of the restaurant without encountering a manager, hostess or anyone. We always think that the Oaks sounds like a good idea but it never is. We ended up eating dinner at Popeyes at the nearby truck stop. We will never go back to the oaks again. It’s clearly being run poorly and they are down to a few, angry servers who scowl at and ignore a new table of guests. The menu is also pretty boring and basic. Nothing sounds that good and the prices are not cheap. This place is to be avoided.
