With pride and passion we’ll be serving freshly prepared locally sourced food and hand-picked beers, wines and spirits. The Oakfield has been lovingly restored and our new garden room offers incredible views of our award winning gardens.

Went to The Oakfield for a sunday lunch. The waitress who served us was very pleasant and friendly.we asked for the children’s food to come quickly if possible and they were very good in accommodating this. We ordered three roast dinners and a children’s roast dinner and it was difficult to identify why there is a £10 price difference between children and adult roast dinners when they appeared to be served with the same amount of food. The adult roast dinner had 3 potatoes, a single carrot and some green veg and we were asked twice how we would like our beef cooked, all requested pink, and it was all served cooked through. Even as the waiter placed the food down he asked who was having the pink roast beef which seemed quite comical. The potatoes were clearly reheated, the meat was chewy and the veg sparse. We asked for more gravy as this was actually very enjoyable and a thimble of gravy was placed on the table and charged 50 pence for the pleasure. we all ordered desert and the brownie was served luke warm with no additional sauce so meant it was very dry. overall a less than enjoyable experience due to the food.

I found some of the staff not very helpful and rude. The lady who showed us to our table look like she didn't want to be there. The waiter who bought us are food was so slow bringing us are condiments we had nearly finished our food. When I asked for the bill the waitress just answered me with a "What!" When I asked again the reply was "card or cash!" Think you need to teach your staff some personal skills because today's experience was shocking! If I want bad service I would have gone to a fast food restaurant. People choose to eat in the pub because they want good service this didn't happen today which is very disappointing.

Although not our first visit to Chester Zoo it was our first visit to the Oakfield it won’t be our last. We were warmly greeted and shown to our seats without waiting. We both had a starter and main course and both were outstandingly delicious and well presented. All staff were friendly and helpful. Will definitely recommend to all friends and family

We had a lovely lunch of fish and chips at The Oakfield this lunchtime. I can definitely recommend this restaurant

Dining in a lovely 1885 house. All first class. In term time which may have influenced the amount of noise. Good value and solid food
