The Ninth est le plus récent projet du chef londonien Jun Tanaka. Situé au cœur du quartier très animé de Fitzrovia à Londres, ce restaurant contemporain de 90 places propose des plats de style méditerranéen français, simples mais raffinées, tous conçus pour partager, dans une ambiance chaleureuse et accueillante. Le menu à la carte - disponible pour le dîner et le souper - met l'accent sur les produits saisonniers les plus vivants et fait ressortir les vraies saveurs ce ceux-ci. Les spécialités incluent des viandes et des poissons fumées sur place, des classiques français robustes accentués d'une touche personnelle fraîche au style de Jun et des plats de légumes, soigneusement exécutés, qui sont beaucoup plus que des accompagnements.

Experience a culinary journey with our Chef’s Choice Menu, featuring a selection of six dishes - Crab and Seaweed Tartlets, Cured Scallops, Truffle Spaghetti & Parmesan, Chargrilled Turbot and Vin Jaune Sauce, Iberico Pork Pluma and our famous Pain Perdu. A vegetarian tasting menu is also available. Please note that all of our dishes are made to be shared. I chose this restaurant as it was on SquareMeal’s list of the cheapest Michelin Starred restaurants in London. I had the set lunch at £38 per head which for food of this quality was an absolute steal. The three courses were all excellent and were served by a charming young staff. I had the crispy spiky artichoke as an additional pre-starter which was as unusual as it was delicious. I intend to return.

Had a lovely lunch during the week here using the set menu. All three courses were superb, well balanced and very tasty. The starters of sea bream carpaccio and beef ragu tagliatelle were great to kick the meal off the the wine parings worked well. We both had the same main of duck leg and was suprised by how much there was of it, complemented by some of the best prepared potatoes I've had in a long time. Once again the wine pairing of the chianti was perfect. Finally the deserts were excellent, with my rice pudding brûlée being truly memorable. And the final word must go to the service, which was superb with two very engaging people.

This is an ambient French style brasserie with a contemporary menu. If you look for Michelin star quality however, you will be deeply disappointed. There is very little finesse or creativity in the dishes. The products are fresh, but not a single time was I surprised or was there an x-factor in the taste. Because of the shift system, everything was rushed to get the table ready in time for the next guests, meanwhile waiting outside in the cold. In comparison to the many Michelin starred restaurants that I have visited across the world, this must have been the most mediocre one, and definitely not worth a star. Shame on Michelin. Obviously, with the above experience, the check came as a shock, moreover because a 12,5% ‘discretionary service fee’ was added, which was not mentioned on the menu, but I probably overlooked the very small print.

Generally really good place that I would recommend. Failed on 5 stars because: .... a boisterous table of 10 made conversation difficult. Not the fault of the restaurant, but maybe fit plain acoustic panels to the ceiling. They would be invisible and help the ambiance. ....recognising that it is a small restaurant, our table for two felt like a bit of a squeeze-in afterthought. .....and the fancy description of what were essentially [expensive] ordinary croquette potatoes with a dipping sauce let down what was otherwise a very good lunch. Stick to chips if necessary.

Staff nice and welcoming. The two of us had to move table, too noisy and table too close together at back. Round table op bar much better. Food nice. This was our second visit. Will go back.

Absolutely loved all the food. Had a double date with one being a veggie and they facilitated with the chefs menu. Really lovely staff. Great for an occasion, lots of birthdays were being had.
