Located in the heart of downtown beautiful Block Island, The National Hotel Tap & Grille is the perfect place to enjoy a great meal or cocktail. Outdoor seating on our iconic Porch offers breath taking ocean views of the Old Harbor.
Dog friendly dining available, please specify in visit notes if you are bringing a furry friend. Inside Seating is also available. We do not reserve fireside seating.

Lunch and dinner served daily, our diverse menu specializes in seafood, steaks & Island favorites. Inside and outside bar shows all sporting events and offers live entertainment on the Weekends during high season.

Independently owned and operated the National Tap and Grille is favorite with locals and tourists

The food was not exceptional, but good as was the service. I didn’t like the additional charge for using a credit card. It was unnecessary considering the cost of the food was high for what you got. The halibut was very tasty, but the Caesar salad with chicken and the chicken Milanese were just okay. In both dishes the chicken was overcooked and a bit dry. It is a good location and I like the outdoor seating. I would like to see a bigger menu with a few more choices at various price points.

The waitress was great. The food was delicious. We come here almost every year and have dinner at The National each time. We usually have drinks out back after dinner sitting around the fire in the Adirondacks. The National is our Block Island staple.

Great dinner on porch. Baked Brie to start then lobster salad and lobster roll. Wonderful view and great service.

We always enjoy dinner at The National! The service was excellent and the view is exceptional. The cocktails were delicious and our food was fresh and flavorful.

Everything at the hotel was great! Emma and her twin sister were super. They did whatever needed done whether it was waiting on us or carrying our luggage upstairs. They always had smiles on their face and upbeat, energetic attitudes. They made our stay special!

Always an amazing experience!! Truly the best New England clam chowder we have ever had!! We were seated quickly on the back porch with our dog and our waiter Kyle was on point!!! Great drinks amazing service and overall a great experience!!! Highly recommended!!! Even the dog received a fresh bowl of water!! This is a location to be sure to go to when on Block Island!

The food is consistently very good, as is the service. The view is always spectacular. The only criticism is the noise level, at times it is excessive. This is not the fault of the National; some folks just have to be boisterous and obnoxiously loud.

Thank you! People definitely seem to have a good time here but I will say that our back deck and firepit area is a nice alternative as it is a little quieter. Hope to see you again soon!

We enjoyed our view of the Harbor. Server Cate was attentive. Baked Brie was so tasty.
