Open to holiday makers, wedding guests and locals, the Murray Arms Hotel in Gatehouse of Fleet is an extension of Laggan, offering bed and breakfast, grazing boards between 1.00pm - 4.30pm and our supper menu from 5pm - 8.30pm.

We have undergone an extensive refurbishment, winning Hotel of the Year in 2023 for Best Design. Our new spaces include our bar area which is dog friendly and our new restaurant.

We had wanted to try the restaurant at The Murray Arms and weren’t disappointed. Beautifully decorated and the food was excellent. Staff were pleasant and welcoming. Would definitely recommend and look forward to returning.

Could have been better. Staff were excellent, and food and drink not too bad. There were two problems: Firstly we were sat at a tall table with high seats, and even for fit 75-year olds, it wasn’t too comfortable, and we felt we were towering over the rest of the diners (it was the only high table)! Secondly, about halfway through our meal an extremely noisy group of ten or so folks came in and the volume of their “conversations” was unbelievable. That said we are unlikely to return as it was our last night in Gatehouse of Fleet

Really lovely ambiance, cosy and stylish. Great customer service. We love Gather but this was our first time at the Murray Arms. We’ll definitely be back. Food was excellent. I’d have liked another vegetarian option however I enjoyed the vegetable and coconut curry and my partner’s steak was superb. Huge children’s portions too. We’d definitely recommend visiting.

1st visit was very disappointing- dining room was freezing cold- diners were eating in coats, there was plenty space and free tables, but we were sat directly next to 2 families, one with a screaming toddler. Very limited menu that offered a range of basic pub food. Salad of chorizo, black pudding & bacon was limp smothered in a sickly dressing- this was Removed from the bill as it was not edible. Scampi basket was as described. Service was pleasant. Don’t think we’ll be rushing back as many other places in Gatehouse.

Highly recommend The Murray Arms. Went for Saturday evening meal. The service from the staff was perfect, attentive without fussing over you. Menu had a reasonable selection of choices. Portion sizes are large so you do get value for money. However, we’d had starters and the main course was too large to finish so I do wonder about food waste given the portion sizes. Atmosphere was good. Cost was reasonable and I feel value for money.

Arrived on time met by pleasant friendly staff. The place was warm and welcoming. The sound of happy comfortable chatter over the gentle background music. Two options of seating. We had arranged the standard. We were promptly shown to our table, which was in a lovely dinning area. We were handed menus. These made pleasant reading. I would say not overly complicated, as in not too much choice. However the choice there was , turned out to be fabulous. The Ham though terrine melted in your mouth. Followed by Gressingham duck. That was cooked to perfection and was magnificently presented. When served it was pink and unctuous. Fabulous a heady palate of tastes and the smell was phenomenal. It was genuinely superb. Be advised the vegetarian options looked outstanding. Plenty for everyone. Well done. Nicely balanced with the right amount of choice. The wine list was contemporary and there was something for everybody. The staff were attentive without being intrusive. The service was knockout, everything we have come to expect of Lagan. The atmosphere and ambiance well balanced and it had that warm welcome and care I say embracing feel. Like you wanted to stay in it and just bask in the comfort and happiness. People were smiling and engaged. In today’s world of rush and uncertainty, this felt like a great place to rest , relax and recover. I felt that the value was great if you want cheap find a hotdog stand. Good luck in Gatehouse. Step through the doors and enjoy this. It is of its time and is a fantastic place to settle and eat, oh and have a glass or two in and of comfort. I cannot recommend it too well. Step inside a world of imagination. Well done Laggan team. Superb.

A top notch hotel bringing quality and style not seen in the region. Great food and great service with well trained quality staff in comfortable, attractive surroundings.

Small menu but great food , all 4 of us enjoyed the food, service and surroundings, best cheesecake I've tasted (mango). Great to have these great facilities on our doorstep. Compliments to all the staff

This is the first time we’ve visited since the Lagan took over. The decor is beautiful! The staff were wonderful; friendly, knowledgeable and very attentive. The food was divine (I’ve got a fussy 10 year old and he left full to the gunnels). We would definitely come back. Well done to everyone- it’s a lovely experience.
