Open to holiday makers, wedding guests and locals, the Murray Arms Hotel in Gatehouse of Fleet is an extension of Laggan, offering bed and breakfast, bar snacks between 3.30pm - 5.30pm and our basket supper menu from 6pm - 8.30pm.

We have undergone an extensive refurbishment, winning Hotel of the Year in 2023 for Best Design. Our new spaces include our bar area which is dog friendly and our new restaurant.

You can’t help but be impressed by the Murray arms as soon as you walk in the door. The quality of the decor and finish is superb and helps create a wonderful atmosphere. The staff were very efficient and attentive, and the food was excellent. We had a great evening with friends and Already have a return visit planned.

Lovely welcome on arrival, followed by friendly, cheerful and efficient service. Nice menu. Good food. It was a pleasure to dine here.

The setting was absolutely lovely, staff were very friendly and attentive to our needs. A few communication issues with the order, however it was resolved. I feel in general the menu needs reviewing, as the options available were very limited. The choice being either something in a basket or a burger. The kids loved it, however the grandparents were looking for something more traditional, like a Steak or steak pie, or a gammon steak, or plain chicken with no spicy seasoning. Not sure if I would return unless the menu changes.

What a revelation! The new Murray Arms looks fabulous. The interior is amazing. The quality outstanding. We had a delicious meal. The service was very friendly and efficient. Will definitely return and intend to stay before long. Many congratulations to the new team.

We dined while the Murray Arms was in it's 'soft launch' period with the menu consisting mainly of food in a basket. The choice is overwhelmingly Asian inspired (also the case at the mothership at Laggan) and could do with broadening out to win repeat business. While we were there a family group staying at the hotel decided to go elsewhere because they had already eaten the night before and the choice was not wide enough. That said, the food is good, well presented and my duck leg was beautifully cooked. My wife chose a basket with 'ordinary' chips, not salt and pepper chips and they arrived already seasoned with too much salt. The kitchen might be treating all chips as the same but if not should certainly not be salting 'standard' chips. Our side salad was very well presented and dressed - again a decent touch showing skill and care in the kitchen. The young people serving seemed to be properly trained and were certainly efficient and friendly. The drinks selection seems to be driven by salespeople from national drinks companies. Fine for the Laggan but for a former pub in a rural town there should be a proper curation of a selection of appropriate drinks. I would expect more local gins, more Scottish whiskies and at least a couple of bottles of local beer (within 20 miles there are a number of good distilleries and breweries). I hope this is adapted quickly, without taking away trade from the neighbouring Masonic Arms. Like our experience a while ago at the Ship in Gatehouse, we met up with several fellow diners in the Masonic afterwards, which in both cases suggests weaknesses in the ambience at both food led venues...

Bit confused by standard and bar when booked online -what does this mean ? Also no choice to sit in olive room ?? Is that for residents? Staff great 👏 not so keen on the Hereford head as it’s not polled and not native to us here in Galloway -she also looks a little soft (American breeding ? ) but that’s being pinickity love the green and burns room . Great to have another great space to dine and enjoy good food with friends - doesn’t happen without a lot of work so congratulate you all .
