Service and food both very nice overall. Good varied menu. Traditional Sunday roasts were really good quality. Meat was tender. I had the 3 meats, pork , chicken and beef. The others ate beef or chicken. All tasted excellent, but portions could have been more generous. Everyone enjoyed theirs. Proper home made Yorkshire puddings & roast potatoes. Potatoes were tasty but very small for roasters. One person had the chicken schnitzel which he said was lovely. The apple and raspberry crumble had plenty of tasty fruit in it, and wasn’t too sweet, but the crumble was just oats and brown sugar really. This came with a very small jug of custard. The sundae was ok. Just that. Waffles that topped it were cold and chewy. The New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, whilst not cheap, was one of the best I’ve drunk in ages and I’m very fussy about wine. We visited on a very busy bank holiday Sunday lunchtime and the place was spotless, staff were on top form, friendly and efficient and lots of evidently happy customers sat in and outdoors despite the fact it was a chilly overcast day.

Roast was generally good. The cauliflower cheese which is an extra side was teeny tiny- just over a mouthful for nearly £4 Sticky toffee pudding was good.

Friendly staff but food was poor. One meal was nice, one ok, two poor and expensive for what we got.

Took a little while to get served at the bar when we arrived but the food was good and the restaurant service worked well.

The meal was great! I felt a little apprehensive reading previous reviews. Order was taken at table and the wait was reasonable for a proper cooked meal. Food freshly cooked and delicious. Only negative was waiting time for drinks at the bar. Unfortunately, under staffed as many places are which meant 1 person serving which added to to the time waiting. Saying that it didn't mar our evening. Would and will return.

Kitchen was closed without warning and was still able to book a table without knowing kitchen was closed

We were booked for 5 people but ended up being 4. You had a Brazilian private party according to the sign but instead of concentrating on that & cancelling people who booked a table you did both- very poor decision. The dining room had the door to outside open so 2 of our party had coats on it was cold. We’d already moved from our table to one further from our allocated seats to be less in direct aim of the cold. The service was poor because management overstretched the staff. Despite this the staff tried their best in a bad situation. Suddenly every one in the garden & it was busy came into the restaurant. They were standing chatting right next to us & moved the tables to have their party indoors. The number of people now surrounding us made for an extremely loud environment & the staff couldn’t get through it was so rammed. Food- the chicken burgers were ok. The soup ordered as main came 1st . Luckily it was piping hot but would have been nice if they’d taken it back to keep warm when we pointed this out. We think you rushed the pie & mash as the pie appeared microwaved and very soggy. We hope this is not how it’s normally served. We left your pub as soon as we’d eaten mains. The waitress apologised but the people behind the bar didn’t say anything or ask about our evening. The noise was ballistic- we couldn’t hear each other & we meet up once a month to catch up. We will not be choosing your pub again.

Very disappointing this time. If a pub chooses to open for meals on a Monday lunchtime, it needs to be adequately staffed, which was certainly not the case on 20th May. There was one female staff member who was the bar person, taking food orders and waitressing the tables - the poor girl didn’t stand a chance. Needless to say table service was very poor, and certainly didn’t warrant the unpopular 10% service charge !! Also the Vietnamese “King Prawn Curry” was served with small shrimps !
