North Scottsdale’s heart beats to a Latin drum at The Mission at Kierland Commons where renowned Chef Matt Carter (Zinc Bistro and Fat Ox) brings a modern twist to Latin cuisine blending influences from Spain, Mexico, Central America, and South America.

Sip a signature margarita with unique flavors such as cucumber jalepeno or aguacate (yes, we said avocado) as you watch your Tableside Guacamole made to your taste from more than a dozen fresh ingredients.

Home made tortillas, sauces, and salsas are made fresh daily to accompany an assortment of meats and seafood prepared on a Plancha or a grill using pecan and mesquite wood that instills a rich flavor. Plus save room for dessert including our pumpkin bread pudding or espresso churros.

Birthday visit with friends. We got a birthday treat but were still charged for it. Food was good. Very small portions so expect to order lots if you have a big appetite... Think tapas sized portions. Service was great and they are very attentive. Seating on patio was good but a bit chilly even with heaters but that’s to be expected in March.

The Mission’s reputation for excellence is well deserved. We ordered specialty drinks that looked and tasted great. Guacamole was prepared table side and customized to our taste by a very engaging server. Our servers offered a variety of favorites from the nice range of interesting choices on the menu. We selected the Roasted Pork Shoulder Tacos for 2. Savory & Delicious! Again, we found the servers were above and very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back!

The food, drink, and ambience were excellent. Our server seemed rushed and wasn’t very attentive. We had to request her to take a drink order and she started walking away before asking the whole table what drinks we wanted. There were only 4 of us. Other than the service the drinks (margaritas) were a little pricey. $24 for a call tequila. I wish I could give it 4.5 stars because it was really only the service that made my rating a 4. Overall we would definitely go back! The unique food options, deliciousness of the meals and ambiance are worth the visit.

We had heard a lot of good things about The Mission, but that was not the experience we had. The hostesses were very nice and we were seated promptly and it was down hill from there. The service was extremely slow in spite of it not being very busy. It took at least 10 minutes for the waiter to come by and after we ordered drinks that was another ten minutes for margaritas that had no discernible tequila in them. The table-side guac guy was very good as was the guac and chips. My husband's pork was swimming in BBQ sauce, and my salmon had a very unpleasant funky taste that I couldn't put my finger on. A busboy dropped a knife while cleaning our table and it stayed on the floor while approx. 10 other employees ignored it, and two of them stepped on it. It was disappointing all the way around and not a place that we will likely return to. It was also so noisy that we couldn't hear each other across the table, along with it being very cold inside.

Took friends in Scottsdale from out-of-town. Great experience as always. Food, atmosphere, service were excellent.

The shaved kale salad was very good and enough to share. I enjoyed my short rib tacos, generous portion of meat I made (2) extra tacos. The street corn was corn a bit on the spicy side but loved by all. The Iberia pork pluma was excellent and a good size. My husband had the prime flat iron steak, it did not look like a flat iron steak and a bit grisly. Great tequila drinks.
