Inspired by Moroccan architecture and the Greek Islands, The Mez Club opened its doors in September 2016 and is renowned for its beautiful styling and feel good vibe. The Mez Club was designed to offer locals and tourists alike a beautiful and feel good meeting place which has a flexible menu, that works for both grazing and dining. The upstairs space known as The Souk has been designed specifically to care for parties and group events. We welcome you and your friends to join us in enjoying our restaurant and of course, beautiful Byron Bay.

I don’t usually write reviews but feel strongly about our evening at The Mez Cafe. It was extremely disappointing and ruined what should have been a great night for a birthday celebration. The service was completely shambolic. While the food was very good when it finally arrived, I would not recommend this restaurant. One end of our table of eight was served around half an hour after ordering. At the other end we waited an hour and a half for food - despite several follow-ups with waiting staff who assured us many times that our food was just moments away. As the evening progressed it became clear that waiting staff had no control of the situation, and no idea of when food would be delivered and what food had or had not been served. A bowl of french fries was delivered as we got up to leave. We had seen other tables arrive, eat and leave before we were served. After discussion at the front of house we received a limited and quite unsatisfactory reduction of the bill which I reluctantly accepted to avoid the evening becoming even more unpleasant. This level of performance from a restaurant that charges around twice what Byron’s mid-market does is simply not acceptable and management should be embarrassed given the mid-market restaurants frankly do a much better job in terms of service and hospitality.

Went there for lunch on a Friday and staff were very friendly, food was very good -- I had the tajine chicken which was very flavoursome. Space is airy and bright, a great place to go for a long relaxing lunch!

Ive been to Mez several times and will be back. It’s a wonderful space with beautiful lighting, ambience, comfy seating. Menu was great & food was absolutely delicious. Great wine selection and nice cocktails. Service was a little slower than usual, though they were all really lovely. Perhaps a little short on wait staff.

My Mum and I had a lovely time at The Mez Club. We both raved about the spectacular service of the two young ladies that served us. The food was beautiful and the atmosphere was cozy and ambient. We loved the warm lighting and decor. It was just the special night out we were hoping for. Thank you!

Food was excellent can’t fault that at all, we had a table reserved for outside but was a turned into a cool night and asked if there was anything inside, told no which was fine but ended up having a table directly behind us inside that was vacant the whole time, saw someone leave and asked if we could move there, told they’d get back to us but never did. I’m also heavily pregnant so the high table we sat at wasn’t that comfortable for me, they just didn’t seem to be very concerned about us so we left a bit disappointed.

Had my 21st birthday dinner here and loved it. The food was outstanding, just wish the portions were bigger for the price we paid. Service was on point and the staff came and sung happy birthday and brought shots out. Just loved it. We didn’t receive our drinks in time for dinner which was disappointing but this was quickly counteracted when they gave us them for free. An honest mistake. We dined outside which I was concerned about but it was absolutely lovely. They gave us blankets and there are beautiful fairy lights. Overall a really lovely experience. The risotto was next level !!!

We had a lovely time, the restaurant itself was stunning! Service was great and the food was a combination of flavours we would never have put together ourselves but it worked perfectly, talented chef! The cocktails were also made to perfection, the cocktail with smoked honey was absolutely amazing! Thankyou for a lovely lunch ox
