We chose the chef's tasting. At $90 tasting menu. Overall, the food was good. Portions a bit uneven. My wife was not a fan of the Skate but I enjoyed it. The filet was above average but not thrilling. We absolutely enjoyed the wall of wine. Between each course we would go to the self-service taps and try a new wine to pair. The staff were very good, friendly, and present. If you are in town, I would recommend their dinner service. We were not able to make it to the more casual upstairs bar as last call is 10pm.

Excellent wine list. Mark (sommelier) was outstanding. Foie Gras was delicious as was dinner.

Our server, Yvette, was wonderful. However, quite honestly, the food was overpriced and bland. I had the black cod that was served nigiri style, wrapped in seaweed and cut into three bites ($44). This was served over a small amount of thinly sliced small potatoes and surrounded with a couple of mushroom slices. In the bowl were 3 circles of chili and a miso consume was poured in the bowl. I could not taste the miso or the chili at all. My dinner partner had the filet mignon ($62) that was supposed to come with a potato, brisket, mushroom hash, but there were no potatoes. We had to order some fries. All she could taste was the char on the steak, and everything else (other than the fries) had no taste.

Food and wine pairing dinner at the chef’s counter was excellent last dinner on our Healdsburg vacation. Our server Hailey was very attentive.

We’ve returned to the Matheson over and over. Three years plus and they are keeping their A game going. Plenty of attentive staff. Super outgoing and helpful. I probably should have given them a 5 on value because compared to other high level establishments their pricing is fair. Food was very rich and filling but that’s on me due to what I ordered. My wife and I both said we need to come back more often, so that tells you a lot. Very approachable menu and excellent all around.

Nice professional service. Good atmosphere. Food pretty good. Thought the sauces with the pork & tuna somewhat unusual. Other than that everything else good.
