Great menu choices and the quality of the food and wine was excellent. Great service from the entire restaurant team in a cosy atmosphere

We were a party of 6 , booked for a Saturday evening. We had family visiting for a special celebration. We have eaten at lunch time here before and had no complaints. However, our experience last night was not good. We placed our orders of 4 steaks, fish and pheasant. The fish was brought to the table in good time, the rest of the meals did not follow. My Mother in law ate some her food before the manager asked if he could take the plate and bring a fresh plate back when all the meals were ready. We were given complimentary bread as we were all quite hungry at this point. The meals were eventually brought to the table except for my Father in laws. We then waited a considerable time before that arrived, the staff did apologise but it meant that we not eating together. The food was very nice but the evening was somewhat ruined for us. I would like to think this is not typical service for Marquis of Granby but not sure I’d book for an evening meal again.

With 3 boys , they were happy with the choices , cooked perfectly. Will definitely go again

The food was well presented, and the taste was good. Unfortunately they same can not be said for the service. My wife asked to taste the wine, but this option failed to materialise until 20 minutes had passed. Also, I was poured 2 beers when only one was ordered. ( it was even on the final bill). I had to ask for them to remove it from the bill. Although the food was good, I still think the prices were a little inflated.

Service from the manager was great, very chaty with a few good jokes. Food wasn’t as good as usual but still loverly, soup was tasty. Really wasn’t happy that dogs were allowed in the main restaurant area where owners were feeding their dog under the table and we allowed to be blocking way to exit/tpilet
