The Malt Shovel is a family owned independent pub in Hartshill, Nuneaton
We open 7 days a week, have a great selection of beer, ales, ciders and wines and serve delicious from 12pm daily. We also have our outdoor Aspalls Area with its electronic retractable roof and sides we have you covered come rain or shine. Our team pride ourselves on offering a warm and friendly atmosphere and we hope to see you soon.

We was there celebrating my husbands 50th birthday. A couple of things my husband wanted wasn't available but other than that a lovely meal

my wedding anniversary. there really was no other place i’d rather eat at. people are lovely. food is quite amazing and delicious. can’t wait to go back

I booked a table for my partner for her birthday didn’t even say to her were I booked it as normal the food good but when I was there I was given a breakfast bar not a table I was sat right next to the toilet my mix grill turn up an my partner is a chef in a pub her self an she said your eggs not cooked so I left it then we waited 10 mins for her food we’re my food started to go cold she asked for her stake to be done well done it come out rare she ask for it to be sent bk we’re it come bk out still the same I was very unhappy with the food an service An only offered 50% off when they could see both didn’t really eat are food an then went to another restaurant

The food was AMAZING as always. the cajun chicken was cooked beautifully and so delicious. everyone had a clear plate. still our number one ‘go to’ eatery.

We love it here. We alway go for special occasions this time it was for my mums 80th birthday. From start to finish nothing was to much trouble. The service was brilliant and the food was absolutely fantastic pipping hot and everything was so tasty. I would recommend this place to everyone. Look forward to going again 👍😊

The carpark is small, but the pub is lovely, go through the bar to the restaurant, told us where our table was, short wait and staff mem took our drinks order, bit of a longer wait for our food order. When did came, freshly cooked, portion size large, very tasty and great value for money. Will be going back.

Strangers to the area, we visited on the basis of online reviews and were not disappointed. The menu is comprehensive and portions more than adequate. Sunday roasts were tasty and well cooked. In fact all of the dishes we saw being served looked tempting The staff were most pleasant and the surroundings comfortable. Would be happy to eat there again Recommended

Had the over 60 menu and can see why it was cheap, fish ,chips and mushy peas. The fish was tiny and overcooked ,chunky chips were frozen type so no taste, mushy peas was the best thing on the plate. nice pub and settings ,shame about the meal

Asked to be moved from a table as it was by the bar, there was no problem at all very good service all staff were friendly polite.

We ordered a jacket potato with beans it came out the jacket potato was still froze solid in the middle it was ice cold Just goes to prove they do not tempt the food before it comes out. It also came with peas after we had ordered beans they forgot the cheese. Side of mushrooms was also ordered with the other meals but didn’t come out till after the food had been eaten by the time the jacket potato came back out Everyone else had finished eating Seriously, how can you get a jacket potato wrong?
