A casual and charming pub with beer at its heart! Set in the beautiful village of Old Knebworth, North Hertfordshire, just on the edge of the historic Knebworth Estate, surrounded by wonderful walks and cycle routes.

Our new menu showcases the best of local seasonal produce, all freshly prepared on site. Micheal Kirby the new head chef, classically trained, offers a contemporary take on pub classic dishes.
Book ahead for Sunday lunch as it is always popular.

Beautiful beer garden with some covered areas.

Danielle looked after us today and we had a fantastic time. All four of us chose the roast pork which was delicious. Superb crackling and crispy roast potatoes.

Lovely food. Great friendly & attentive (but not rushed) service. Lovely ambience & decor. Can do it all - open doors/ outside for the summer, or cosey for the winter. Dining in the conservatory is lovely, or a drink with the pub feel or in the quaint pub garden overlooking the fields. Can’t wait to go back

Nice traditional pub which serves good food. Some drinks were very expensive. Pleasant place to eat occasionally

The food was great, staff very good and busy. Waited about 50 minutes for starters, possibly short staffed. But both starter and main very good and young man taking our order calm and precessional. Other peoples’ children potentially irritating but obviously a good venue for families.

Great friendly service, very dog friendly so expect the odd bark up, good food, good range of Craft beers (but sadly no Old Man's Brown Foaming Ale for me like a London Pride or Spitfire!), Venison Shepherd's Pie n thing of absolute beauty

We discovered this very good pub 18 months ago. Now we visit fortnightly for mid week lunch. Almost always the atmosphere, standard of food and staff friendliness are excellent. We did not enjoy our food this time- overcooked fish n chips. Staff very stressed and not as many as usual. As we left, we realised there was a party of about 30 in the other bar. Clearly not enough staff in kitchen and bars to maintain standards. We shall return. In fairness, we received compensation

We moved tables because the noise level was so high in their conservatory. Booked so far in advance was disappointed to find our table x 3 was not in the main bar. The service was not good. I have responded to their own survey and my comments are there. This pub is in a wonderful location but everything else is still disappointing. Used to be mainly pizzas, now more choice. Will probably return on a lovely sunny day but unlikely to book in advance again. Too many better service providers at local pubs. Overall experience was disappointing.
