Ireland's most iconic drawing room looks out on the only garden grand enough to match: the glorious St. Stephen's Green. The Lord Mayor's Lounge is the perfect back drop for a special day in Dublin. A room sparkling with light; it is a welcoming setting for our celebratory theatre of that most civilised ritual: the art of Afternoon Tea.
The elements have remained unchanged over the centuries: a fragrant pot of tea, a succession of sweets and delicate sandwiches, fine china, fresh flowers and delighted laughter. This time is all about enjoying the lovely things in life, an experience designed to be shared and savoured. Time slows down and the art of conversation is revived.

From December 1st, our wonderful Lounge will convert to a casual dining venue from 7.30pm daily, allowing our guests to experience an exquisite food offering in our iconic setting.

A very special afternoon in the beautiful surroundings of the Shelbourne hotel. We were served an incredible array of finger food and delicious patisserie along with a huge selection of lovely teas and coffees. The staff were really welcoming and efficient, nothing was too much trouble. Wonderful.

It was just okay. I was told the scones would be warm, but they weren’t. They also were some of the blandest scones I’ve ever had. The banana bread was good and moist, but literally cold - as if it had just been taken out of the fridge. Would have expected room temperature. They also have this policy where they don’t just leave your tea pot at your table, but on the side of the room and wait for a server to bring it back and pour every time you want more. It was a bit annoying to have to wait for it. It was my first time doing tea in Ireland versus London, so don’t know if this is a cultural thing. The bread from the smoked salmon tasted dry. The foamy salted cheesecake cup was definitely the highlight. In short, it was okay, but I was definitely expecting more and left underwhelmed.

Really lovely afternoon as always. The coeliac afternoon tea was lovely no difference to the regular afternoon tea. Lovely staff & atmosphere highly recommend

Vicki our waitress was absolutely wonderful, all the Shelbourne staff were.A really lovlely experience, we will def do it again.

We had an amazing time celebrating my parent's anniversary and my mom's birthday. One of the highlights was our waitress Camila, she went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, and even explained the menu in Spanish! Thank you for a fantastic afternoon ❤️

This was our second time to visit for afternoon tea, the first time was 6 years ago and you can see the experience has lost its magic. Service was very slow, we were seated 35 minutes before our food arrived which we thought was unusual for a set menu afternoon tea. Tables along the window are seated too close to neighbouring guests, so much so you could hear their conversations better than your own. Overall a disappointing experience, we won’t be returning.
