The Loose Chequers is a former 17th century coaching inn. We serve classic pub food and fantastic steaks from our local butcher. Every Friday we have live music in the evening from 8pm. Our range of menus means we can cater for large bookings of over 100 and we regularly do events of this nature.

Sadly did not get table in area booked, they had given table away. After making selection from menu, was then told not available. Food nice and value for money. Staff friendly

Always a good place to visit. There was a private function on outside with a live band but it was still really enjoyable, not too loud and quite nice to sit and people watch

The food is good pub food. I had an excellent steak and my son's fish and chips looked great. The pub was a bit noisy but we're in the main bar area. It would be quieter in the side areas.

Thanks Davie I completely agree we are a traditional pub with lot's of conversations going on in the bar area, please do request a more quiet table if you would prefer that.

I came here previously last year and the food was tremendous. I could never fault the atmosphere or venue on either visit. Yet, the steaks we ordered tonight were not only cooked to medium when asking for rare, but just grainy, and poor gradings of steak. Extremely disappointed from the food perspective. Not only that but the brownie was crusty and with an edge of staleness which I had hoped would be the saving grace but instead secured its place as a pub added to my "don't go for awhile" list. Outside of the food it was a pleasant experience, I cannot fault the staff or venue as a venue. But of course, I went for food, and overall, the disappointment in such led me to write an overarching negative review.

Oh dear Anonymous. Following on from our conversation I would like to apologise again for you not enjoying our food, it is usually a fantastic standard and very keen price wise at £22 for an 8oz Filet as an example. For those reading and considering whether to visit us we do make mistakes but we do also do a number of checkbacks during the meal and this is your opportunity to let us know if it's not good. We will rectify any situation we are made aware of at the time. If you don't you will leave unhappy which I believe is a waste of your evening and of course is not what we are here for.

We went on Mother’s Day as a large group. Excellent food, some of it was a little on the colder side and could have been hotter but it was all delicious! Excellent portion size and really helpful waitresses. Will definitely be returning!

Good and service couldn’t be faulted! Table was perhaps a little small for the 4 of us but will definitely be back!
