The Loose Chequers is a former 17th century coaching inn. We serve classic pub food and fantastic steaks from our local butcher. Every Friday we have live music in the evening from 8pm. Our range of menus means we can cater for large bookings of over 100 and we regularly do events of this nature.

We booked a table in advance but there was no beef and only one chicken. Maybe a pre order system would be an advantage. We also didn’t realise the kitchen shuts at 4pm.

The service was very good and attentive. The food was good pub grub. The fajitas were particularly good. The apple crumble was really enjoyable. There is a good selection of beer.

Very limited Sunday menu offered. No roast available. Staff were friendly, honest and didn’t rush us. Pub was quite busy but had no atmosphere. Bit smelly. Food was disappointing.

Nice pub in village setting. Big menu choice. Two girls behind bar gave great service to me, my friend & my 🐶. Good yo visit if in the area.

The food was absolutely fabulous. It was a little noisy and busy while we ate, but this was exactly as expected for a busy and popular local pub. We loved it!

Have visited here many times since discovering it it 2018. Always a treat. Great service, wonderful food and of course, the setting by the stream is always a magical treat. The Chequers will always be at the top of my list when thinking of a family meal.

Went here for a well-deserved roast on Sunday after completing a 10K race for life at mote park and was not disappointed. Absolutely delicious 😋
