Sunday Lunch.
Booked online for a Sunday lunch and arrived 5 minutes early (11.55) and the waitress didn't have our booking in the books. We were told that there would be a little wait as they had not long finished breakfast service which is fine as we were 5 minutes before lunch service.
Front of house staff on separate occasions asked to take our order while one of us was away from the table which wasn't ideal. After the staff took our order to the kitchen, we could hear the chef shouting about having a walk in table of 2. Not very nice to hear and technically we were not a walk in as I had booked online and had confirmation of this.
We ordered 2 paté starters, a beef main and a pork main. The one paté was extremely salty and the crisp bread that it was served with, was rock hard.
The braised beef was extremely dry and very unpleasant to eat, so I didn't end up eating the beef. The veg was very under seasoned and bland. We had to ask the waiter what the one item of veg was as it tasted like pure butter and he said he didn't know as it was his first Sunday shift and had to check with the kitchen, we were then told it was pureed swede. The gravy was full of bits and tasteless.
The male waiter was lovely and tried really hard but the food was very underwhelming especially after a 50 minute wait when for 35minutes of that, we were the only table in the restaurant.
We did also hear the waiter say to a table of one that their food would be delayed as the chefs were taking a break, which was mad to hear at 1pm on a Sunday service.
The total of our bill was just under £50 for two 2 course meals and 3 drinks which I think is reasonable however you could get a lot better quality food for the same if not less than this price elsewhere.
