The Library Wine Bar and Bistro is Wallingford's original town library. Built in 1899, it was passionately and lovingly restored back to its classic, architectural beauty in 2014.

    The ambience overall was nice;the food was not. Ordered the gnocchi which was the special. It was not the traditional pillowy and soft but very large, spongy and flavorless. The broccoli rabe in the dish was all stems. The shrimp and grits dish also lacked flavor and was too much of the wrong spice. The waitress offered to comp us a free dessert but we declined. At that point, both entrees should have been comped and were not. Would not go back there again.

    It was our first visit and we were pleasantly surprised. Lydia was delightful! I ordered scallops and they were done to perfection! The wine selection was limited but there were some very good wines available and the mark up wasn’t outrageous. My husband recommends the duck. It was perfectly cooked and the accompaniments enhanced the flavor. Overall a great experience. We’ll be back.

    My first time at Library. Food was delicious and plentiful. Everything was served hot. Our server, Shay was terrific. We were seated upstairs and she had the whole room. So she and her assistants had to carry everything up a long flight of stairs. Everything came on time and with a smile. I strongly recommend Library. Great food, service and ambience. I will be back.
