Located in the London Marriott Hotel County Hall, The Library décor features the original oak bookcases stacked with the classics and adorned with busts of literary and historical figures. Indulge in history whilst enjoying spectacular views over the River Thames and Big Ben.
Award-winning Executive Head Chef Jamie Welch has created a new elegant menu for The Library featuring contemporary British dishes with a modern twist.
Freshly prepared by our creative pastry chefs, afternoon tea features reimagined classics including a delectable arrangement of cakes and pastries, sweet and savoury scones served with seasonal jams and clotted cream, and full flavoured finger sandwiches.

TOURIST TRAP! High tea is about the experience. Exceptional service with specialized teas, sandwiches and desserts. The Library offers a nice venue on the River Thames in a comfortable setting made to resemble a private library. However, it ends there. The tea was interesting, but the food accompaniment was unremarkable at best. The sandwiches were made from bread and ingredients most likely from a nearby Tesco Express. They were dry and bland. The desserts could have come directly from a coffee shop in the Westminster Underground. The service was polite, but a bit too removed. We were never offered any assistance for tea pouring, nor were we offered milk. Someone checked in on us once or twice to ask what we needed. This is not good service. Good service doesn't need to ask. They can see the water glass is empty. They can offer to pour more tea. They can ask if we want to take away and prepare it for us. This would be exceptional service. The service during our visit was average pub service. Finally, there is value. I am happy to spend money for an exceptional experience, but this was not what we got. We could have had one tea serving and been happy, but our server strongly recommended two. This was not really what we wanted, but it shows the primary motivation is profit and higher service charge. Not customer experience. At $250 for tea for two I felt completely robbed and would never recommend the Library to anyone.

We had a great time for afternoon tea with friends. It was a great way to spend an afternoon.

We went for a girls' trip to London! It was the perfect balance of ambiance, quality, and cost. The menu options for our mixed group of regular, vegetarian, AND vegan was super helpful. Also, they offered for us to order any additional rounds of sandwiches included in our reservation! We did not go hungry and everything was delicious!

With the prevalence of afternoon teas available in London, I would advise going somewhere else. A real shame, as the ambience is perfect, as is the view of Westminster. But, the lack of sandwiches (got told when I complained they were replinishable which was a bit late as the table had virtually been cleared) followed by 5 cakes to be shared by 2 people made this afternoon tea extortionately expensive. If you want a special afternoon tea, go to The Ritz, The Savoy or even Sketch. Still expensive but at least in those places you get what you pay for! Unlike at The Library.

Amazing experience: The view is fantastic, the environment is classy and the service superb. Shoutout to Chandra who was above and beyond with the service. The view of the Big Ben with a tranquil setting adds a wonderful experience and the food (especially the desserts) is very good.

Been before and it was amazing but disappointed this trip. The service was slower than usual which they apologized for but as it was bottomless we were always waiting for refills. Most disappointing was the cakes which were to share as opposed to one cake each! Not had this before where you have to share cakes usually enough for one of each type each! For the price I’m sad to say I was disappointed and unlikely to return.

A lovely spot - the tea was absolutely delicious (I thought it better than the Ritz) and you can’t beat the view
