The Lakefront Restaurant is an upscale tavern located on the shores of Lake Michigan in the historic Theater on the Lake building. We offer seasonal Midwestern fare featuring the freshest choice ingredients and a beverage program highlighting craft beers, spirits, and a diverse wine list.

We are open year-round, and invite you to enjoy the casual elegance of our intimate tables, communal seating, lounge area, and our warm-weather Skyline Patio -- all while taking in the stunning views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline. Visit us during the fall and winter months for happy hour and other day daily specials.

Phenomenal choice-welcomed out of town friends and their 4 kids (4-9yrs) to early dinner at The Lakefront on a Sunday. Table was ready, waitstaff was attentive and patient with the kids. Food was delivered in a timely fashion and kept the flow of dinner moving along. Coloring sheets provided for the kids made a huge difference so they had an activity to do while food was prepared. View was stellar - great people watching. Post dinner, we walked the lakefront path for a bit before returning to the suburbs. Highly recommend- great for larger groups and food was really good!

We love this place! Outdoor dining with a lake view. We enjoy the chicken dishes and wine selection. The service is great! Thank you Jason.

Great setting!!! Love spending time at Theater on the Lake! Great service- helpful, friendly waitress!!! She didn’t rush us, she provided good recommendations, and she was professional and friendly. Great food!

Great spot for the kids, as they can run around outside. Kids menu was terrific -- and satisfied all parties. With valet only $15, it made the in and out easy. Will definitely be back for family dinners in the future.

It was delightful. Four of us were celebrating a birthday for two on a warm July evening. We were able to sit outside on the lakefront side. I wish that I had asked the name of our waiter because he was terrific! Couldn’t have been better. When I made the reservation I had indicated that it was a celebration for 2 birthdays. He brought us, at no charge, pieces of bread pudding with candles. That was a very special gesture. It was a lovely evening for everyone!

When in Chicago, do as the Chicagoans do: head to our lakefront restaurant for a fish and chips fix and some serious LOLs! 😂🍟 Don't leave without trying the deviled eggs and tomato soup – they're a hoot!

Service was good, the view is great. Food was ok. Drinks were great. Garlic shrimp roll is a cold shrimp salad on a lobster roll…that didn’t seem clear on the menu. Halibut w/ asparagus was ok-pretty presentation, asparagus was delish, fish was ok.

Was so excited to try this restaurant on the lake. Ate on the patio. The service and food portions were very good. The menu descriptions do not describe how the food is presented Very vague There is no atmosphere at all They really need tall plants and flowers on the patio and more umbrellas Could really be a great destination
