The Kings Arms lies deep in the heart of the East Devon countryside. We’re surrounded by wonderful local farmers and growers, and we aim to make the most of this by using locally-produced ingredients whenever possible. Our meat is sourced from our nearby family farm, and most of our fish is supplied by our very own fleet of fishing boats.

Here at the Kings Arms, we serve a varied, locally-sourced menu, with breakfast, lunch and dinner all available in the bar, conservatory and outdoor terraces. We will happily accommodate different dietary requirements, with friendly and informal table service wherever you choose to sit.

Best food I have had anywhere and I've eaten at a lot of places. Gorgeous beef pie, cooked with their signature ale. Unlike any other beef I've eaten. The mash and cabbage were outstanding all on their own. Then the chocolate Sunday was absolutely superlative. Don't hesitate to go if you can.

Nestled in the heart of Otterton, The Kings Arms is a hidden gem that boasts a perfect blend of rustic charm and modern elegance. From the moment you step inside, you are greeted by warm, inviting decor featuring reclaimed wood, ambient lighting, and an impressive selection of local art adorning the walls. The service was impeccable; our server was attentive without being intrusive and offered excellent recommendations from the menu. He was knowledgeable about the ingredients and the source of each dish, which enhanced our dining experience. Now, onto the food. The menu is thoughtfully curated, showcasing a range of mouthwatering options, all prepared with high-quality, locally sourced ingredients. We started with the Whitebait, which were perfectly crispy and was accompanied with a Lemon Mayo– a must-try appetiser! For the main course, I opted for the signature Greendale Beef Burger, cooked to perfection and topped with Caramelised Onions, Cheddar, Bacon and BBQ sauce. The flavours melded beautifully, and the bun topped with Onion Rings elevated the whole experience. My partner chose the Dover Sole, which was flaky and succulent, served with House Salad that was brightened with Pickled Seaweed. To accompany our meal, we indulged in a selection from their extensive drinks list, featuring local brews that perfectly complemented our dishes. The atmosphere was relaxed, with just the right amount of chatter filling the air. Finally, we couldn't resist dessert, and the Cheesecake was the finale we needed – rich, delicious, and served with a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream that brought a delightful accompaniment to the dish. Overall, The Kings Arms exceeded our expectations in every way. The combination of exquisite food, attentive service, and cosy ambiance makes it a perfect spot for a casual dinner or a special occasion. We will definitely be returning soon – this place deserves every one of those five stars!

A lovely welcoming pub in a great location. The house wine was good Service was very friendly and pleasant. Unfortunately we will not be eating here again unless there’s a new chef The roasts were a huge disappointment as they looked attractive when served. The cabbage was completely cold, the potatoes and parsnips hard and undercooked. The beef was so tough it literally could not be cut at all and the belly pork hard rather than slow roasted. The nut roast lacked nuts! It was a cake of watery mashed butternut squash decorated with pine nuts. Similarly the extra of cauliflower cheese was seriously undercooked and tasteless. Three of us were left hungry as a result and we went down the road to the Mill for delicious home made scones. We’ll keep an eye out for a board stating New Chef as we liked the pub. Sadly it’s blighted by a chef who doesn’t seem to understand quite basic cooking. Most adults could do much better in their own kitchens.

We booked a table for 1.30 on a Sunday which was a mistake as it was very busy and noisy! That said the food and service here is very good apart from the lamb we ordered which for me was not really edible. Poor cut of meat and mostly fat. I won’t order lamb there again. Don’t let that put you off as this is a lovely venue for food

Simply, waited an hour post food order before asking to speak to the manager. It wasn't a busy evening but one we had chosen for a birthday celebration but felt very let down. Despite seeing six or more staff front of house they never even did a check back or take a drinks order. Finally left after speaking to the manager who said there was no charge even for the three pints we had had He had no excuse and just said it was about to be plated up. Gave it a further five minutes before we left. NOT RECOMMENDED

On the positive, good venue and location . Stylish interior and great back garden. I was excited to go here because it is advertised as owned by those who own the boats that provide the fish locally and also farm the meat. The food was very disappointing. Barely any fish on the menus and nothing on the specials which you might expect if caught recently . Steak nothing to write home about. None of food had any wow factor or flourish. Shame becuase ought to be a real draw in the circumstances

We were having lunch and had a pre booked table for 2:30 pm. The atmosphere was nice but our 4 drinks took ages to arrive and then our food took over 50 minutes. We had 3 sandwiches and a salad. The steak in the sandwiches was so over cooked that it had to be eaten separately to the sandwich as you couldn’t bite through it and the prawn sandwich was so liquidy it was dripping onto the plate and made the bread soggy. No one told us there was such a wait for food and when we asked about the delay no one came back to inform us how long it would be from then. We were given a free round of drinks (which was then added onto the bill anyway). Really disappointed.

The pub in itself is a nice, clean, cosy pub and is very dog friendly. The food has great potential, but unfortunately when we went recently (26th Aug), it took over an hour for our food to come after we had ordered it & we had only ordered fryer food (fish and chips etc) so it wasn’t anything particularly intricate or fresh per se. 3 out of 4 of the meals then arrived after about an hour, then we had to chase again 5 minutes later for the 4th meal. Was very odd. We weren’t offered enough compensation in return, in my opinion, as they only took off 1 round of drinks from the bill but it’s better than nothing I suppose. Was a bit of a shambolic experience as a whole!
