    Hi guys, this is the second time we have eaten at your restaurant, great beer selection! Only thing was when looking at menu there wasn’t really anything that was different to where we’ve been on our hols, don’t get me wrong the food we had was fab ( both had the burgers with sides, ) but just felt needed a bit more choice. Anyway we didn’t come away disappointed but we were expecting a bit more choice. Goethals helps, happy summer guys, Si

    As always, The Joiners Arms never disappoints. The staff were great, they were friendly, attentive and the service was excellent. We had the fish of the day which was delicious and we will no doubt be back again very soon. Thank you

    Noisy and lively but good modern menu and good service from a young team. We had a fish and seafood sharing meal which was excellent.

    Very disappointed with the menu, definitely not gastro pub food, either the chef or the owner needs to get out more. I had a Caesar Salad, the lettuce was lovely, fresh and crispy . Unfortunately it had not been prepared correctly, the base of the leaf was brown and unappetising. The waitress did kindly take the browned pieces away and said she'd tell the chef. Response, there was none. I had to recheck the menu to establish what was included in this Caesar Salad .... and true enough no mention of anchovies, my mistake - but then I had been promised gastro food. My husband had the BIG Poke Bowl with crispy chicken, which was very nice, but the chicken lacked any crispiness.

    The service was excellent - all staff clearly wanted to make it a great experience. The food was good but not exceptional and I felt the prices were a bit high. All in all we enjoyed our lunch but were not overwhelmed with anything except the service!

    Food good value. Drinks expensive. Food was good. Husband ordered pie of the day and really enjoyed it. I had beer battered haddock, appeared massive but not as big as looked as beer batter puffs up so when cut into not so much fish inside, which fine for me as it looked too big for my appetite. Also I was not convinced was haddock though could be wrong on that.

    Seated directly in front of disabled toilet, food took over 30 minutes to arrive. Pie (looked like a service station pie!) Small dish mushy peas and about 10 chips, certainly didn't fill the plate - £18.95!! More like a chippy meal certainly not gastropub 😏

    From the reviews and the descriptions from the pub I was expecting to be really impressed but it felt very much like anywhere else I've been. Food was ok. Not enough roast vegetables on a £22 roast dinner, just a lot of boiled veg. Meat good. Skipped dessert as it was £8 each. I wouldn't make a special trip here in future. Maybe just if I was already in the area.

    Somewhat disappointed with our experience yesterday, expected more from the 5 star claims. We had asked a member of staff sat outside smoking as to whether we were able to park on the gravel at the front as a car was already there and were told that we could park in front of said car (we’ve never visited before). On literally stepping through the door a young man abruptly walked at us, no hello or anything, pushing past asking if that was our car, pointing and telling us to move it. Which is fine but we had asked previously and there’s ways of approaching a customer and this was not it. Sunday lunch was great portions but chicken skin very unpleasant and my partners pork belly was tough with rubbery ‘crackling’. Service on the whole was ok but I asked for a simple change from chips to mash for my two young sons which was met with a reaction of it being an inconvenient request with the response of a sigh and ‘well it should be ok’. Had eyes rolled at me when asking for an additional bowl for sharing ice cream between our boys. Probably would not visit again which is a shame as expected bigger things when associated with Newton Hall which we have attended multiple times for weddings.
