I don’t like restaurants that charge extra to provide a few potatoes or vegetables with the meal by calling them “side dishes” at £4.50 each.

Service was poor. Menu isn’t as good as it was previously. Pre booked but on arrival no tables in restaurant so had to be seated in the general bar. Excuse was they had a large party of 20+ booked for the restaurant. Asked to be moved away from dogs, but wouldn’t. They obviously have their preferred customers as others were seated in the restaurant after we arrived!

Thank you for your review Simon, we are sorry to hear your recent visit with us fell below expectations. We would like to reassure you that we do not have preferred customers and do treat everybody the same. Tables are allocated in accordance to party size, and duration of table time, as we book our tables several times over in one night. We are a dog friendly venue throughout and cannot guarantee diners will not be placed next to a dog. We will be sure to take your feedback on board, and hope to see you again in future.

Appeared to be short-staffed; only 3 staff for busy restaurant & bar. Consequently service was slow and not as good as we have experienced on previous visits. Guests on the table next to us arrived after us and were served main course after us but we sat with empty plates for half an hour whilst the next table was cleared and dessert orders taken. Food was good quality but not exceptional. Disappointing overall compared to previous visits.

Again great food, especially the steak frites (cooked pink). Some rather loud regulars at the bar who liked the sound of their own voice wax rather off putting. Service was attentive but quite slow, there appeared to be only three people serving including the bar person, and for the level of customers this seemed inadequate. We waited a long time for the dessert menus and it took some time to order, but when they came they were delicious. Overall a good experience but not great - it seems to have changed a great deal since our first visit last year but still a great pub.

Lovely food, including a great doggy menu. The place was very busy which meant service was slightly slow.

The Joiner's Arms is a must visit if your holidaying in the Northumberland area, it’s located in the village close to Low Newton by the sea. So you can enjoy the brilliant local beaches, with either lunch or dinner to finish off a prefect day.

Excellent food. Service a bit slow and dogs should be in a different room. Ie the bar area

A most excellent lunch experience. We were quite a bit early as it was tipping it down, and the staff were so welcoming and “no bother” . The food was truly expectional, and the service was friendly and efficient.

Been before so knew what to expect. Asked about vegetables as one party doesn’t like red cabbage and was told veg came separate, but the red cabbage was on the plate. Food was very nice, veg was quite hard for older members of the party, but I liked it. We asked to see a dessert menu but it didn’t materialise so we paid the bill and left. Overall a good meal and we will be going back.
