First time here, the food was good but our server got our drinks and appetizers wrong. And I don’t like when there are food runners bringing your food out because for each course that came out to the table it was placed in front of the wrong person. For what we paid I would expect better.

Overall, the experience was just ok. Quite noisy and in my opinion, pricey for what you are getting. The signature cocktails were full of ice and at $20 per drink, not acceptable. $52 for a small piece of halibut and a side that was inedible was also unacceptable. We won’t be going back.

This is a beautiful two story restaurant. The bar downstairs is spacious and very pretty. We ate upstairs where the decor was a mix of barn and chic. Our waiter Carlos was personable and very attentive and one of the owners, Andrew was around to make sure everything was perfect. The food was delicious . We started with oysters and a beet salad. My daughter had the classic beef Wellington and the meat melted in your mouth. My husband had the duck which was delicious and perfectly cooked. I had a halibut special and the fish had a perfect crisp to the outside. Definitely will be visiting again.

The service was amazing. The seafood tower was great. The main course lacked seasoning the appetizers we’re OK a lot of hype and above average prices for mediocre food

Everything was great with one exception. The noise level was so loud that it was difficult to have a conversation. It must be the acoustics of the restaurant. Some sound absorption would be beneficial.

I had the pleasure of eating at the James. I do not think that I would have known this restaurant without seeing it on Open Table. The historical building is home to the restaurant. The unique and welcoming entrance is a showcase of the various rooms touched with elegant decor. One can see that the owner(s?) are customer-centric, knowledgeable in hospitality, and have experience in delighting their clients through excellent food, presentation, and welcoming and professional staff. The warm bread started the experience (I doubt you could only have one portion). Our friendly server, Damon, knew that the tiered and shared seafood, lobster, crab, shrimp appetizer, and other dishes would delight our pallets. Though on the higher end, the experience was topped off with desert, making it a treat for the week.!

Excellent service both at the bar and the table. Food very good especially the Caesar salad and clams on the half shell. Go for the cheesecake for dessert. Nice setting. Restaurant was remodeled after taking over the Babylon Carriage House. If you don't like some stranger parking your car, there is ample parking in the municipal lot immediately east which is where I parked.

An appetizer order of baked clams was served burnt. We asked the waiter to send it back and told him why. He came back and said the chef said it was charred not burnt. I also had an order of baked clams. My order was fine. I told the waiter to go back and tell the chef it was burnt not charred. A new order was never served. Even if we were wrong, which we weren’t, the customer is always right.
