A real gem of a place. Excellent service, friendly and efficient staff, great food choices and we had the added advantage of entertainment by singer Harriet Jane. We will go back!

Food was good! We got out out the back so was quieter but we got forgotten about! Service charge added on which i think should be optional Mentioned it was a birthday but no acknowlegement or Personal exp.

The Jack Russel is in a beautiful location and part of the fun of going is the lovely drive there. The pub itself is a mixture of old and new design but still retaining a cosy feel. The menu is very good and encompasses most tastes. Food is very good and nicely served inside or out. Service is very good with helpful staff. Ambience can be problematic with exceptionally noisy guests. The acoustics don’t seem to lend themselves to this problem possibly because of the hard surfaces. Also instead of diners sitting back to back at tables, they are back to side on, making loud voices very intrusive. Overall I would highly recommend .

At last we have found a pub in the Newbury area that has exceeded our expectations. We look forward to returning to again enjoy their menu and drinks selection.
