We had a beautiful lunch at the Ivy in Edinburgh. The monkfish and prawn curry was amazing as was the famous chocolate bomb. Our lovely waitress was very helpful and the service impeccable From the team at Reception to the team on the cocktail bar, they gave us the most amazing welcome. It is expensive but worth every penny. Thank you

Arrived 5 minutes before our reservation. Reception staff were very abrupt, telling us that we would have to sit at the bar until our table was ready as there was a delay with this. The stools at the bar are high and I struggled to sit there, the receptionist, said the only other option was to sit outside! I booked online, and had explained I had mobility problems, it was my 65th birthday and although I have had previously had food at the Ivy, and apart from the last time, had not had a very good experience, I thought I would go again. Big mistake. We were originally brought to a table, that was like a large coffee table next to a sofa style seat. This was too low down, I asked if they got my note about my mobility, they said they had hence that seating. It was too low, and as I had sat there on the first occasion I had visited the Ivy, I knew I would both struggle to sit down and get up without significant pain. The girl was extremely abrupt and showed us to a small table next to the till where an employee, a person called Dimitri was standing at all times. I had no personal space, particularly when he was standing with his back to me. When the meal came, my order was wrong , so they had to go back to the kitchen to get my actual order. I waited for a further 5 minutes for this to come out. It was at best luke warm. They had brought out the side of mash I had ordered before the main arrived, that meant it had started to go cold. My daughter didn't want to eat until my main arrived, out of politeness, therefore her meal, plant based Malaysian curry, was also cold. That, she told me was very bland, with few vegetables, and mainly sauce. There was more rice than anything else. Our meals were full price from the a la carte menu. Suffice to say, after giving the Ivy a try for the third time, we will never again return to one of your restaurants. Very disappointing, and will not be recommending either the food or the service at the Ivy.

To be perfectly honest this was not the service or overall experience our party associated with The Ivy. The service just wasn’t up to par - we had to serve our own wine which was not as usually expected at this restaurant. My friend had ordered a French Martini and it came as a half serving which we had to rectify. We waited half an hour inbetween given the sweet menus and actually ordering them. It just didn’t feel special which had been our previous experience. The ambience could have been anywhere. It just wasn’t anything special. To be fair, our party of five was disappointed and we are reticent to return.

Planned a trip through to Edinburgh to take in the sights and sounds of the Festival . Decided to visit the Ivy having visited their Glasgow outpost on a number of occasions . Received an hearty welcome and was shown to our table upstairs with a view of the square as requested . The menu was comprehensive , reasonably priced , for Edinburgh and supported by an interesting wine and drinks list . Service was excellent and friendly and food was well cooked and presented . Would definitely recommend and , return .

the service was very poor, had to ask for someone to get us drinks, they had taken our full food order before we got asked for drinks and we had to call someone over to get some drinks. No smiles or welcoming atmosphere at the door, we found it quite intimidating. Overall very rude. Then to add £12 on our bill for service charge was quite cheeky considering the quality of the service. Very disappointed and will not be returning.

If I’m honest the food we fine but not exciting. The service was not great. Some of the staff didn’t know what drinks they were delivering and in fact got them completely mixed up. Only the garnish allowed us to work out which was which. Sadly, I don’t think I’ll be back as there are far better places close by.

Staff very friendly and extremely helpful we were in town earlier and with rain coming on thought we would ask if we could wait in bar or bring reservations forward. Staff were very helpful and arranged a lovely table for us there and then, will definitely re visit this restaurant
