The Ivy est une institution londonienne depuis 1917. Le restaurant et le salon privé à l'étage sont la quintessence du glamour. The event is priced at £120 per person and includes a welcome glass of bubbles, canapés, a seasonal cocktail, and a three-course dinner. Please note limited tables are available. I first went to the Ivy in 1989. I have been there many, many times. On 21/9/24, we went for lunch. I note the date as it is the last time I will go. I have watched "The" Ivy evolve and change. Change happens. Not all change is good. Dumbing down the menu is never good. Dumbing down the food quality - that too is never good. Bang Bang chicken: I have the recipe from the chef operating in 2011. Beware that this is not what they now actually serve. If it was chicken - it was not shredded or smoked. It was hard and wet - rather than soft and naturally moist. It was gelatinous. It was inedible. It was sent back. 2 were sent back. When the Eggs Royale arrived they were warm. That meant when the first was completed - the second was stone cold. Sent back. The manger said he would remove the 2 x Bang Bang. He did. He also said he would remove the Eggs. He didn't. They then applied a £35.00 service charge. We reminded him to remove the eggs. He did. We asked they remove the service. It was at this time the mood changed. They were plainly not happy. I fear it has passed them by that "service" relates not just to the table - but the food. That it is appealing. That it is edible. It is difficult to see how it could be thought that this could and should be applied to food sent back. Overall - the restaurant has lost its way. It has lost its charm. It seems to believe that it can offer poorly presented food - of poor quality and that people should be grateful. Nope.

This was a surprise 16 birthday and sadly that was ruined on arrival. We waited 1/12 for are starters . Then when are mains come out my John dorey fish was over cooked and rubbery and stone cold. Out friend order the same and hers was raw in the middle and warm on the outside. After many years waiting to experience this beautiful restaurant we were sadly very disappointed and it ruined a 16th birthday which someone had been looking forward to. Then the cost of the meal was really poor for food not up to stander.

It took over 45 minutes just to get a drink from the bar. Food was outstanding, service, when it occurred was great. But very very slow.

Our first visit to the Ivy & we were not disappointed. The service was extremely good & food nicely presented. Nice choice of cocktails too.

The food was delicious and the service excellent. Staff were welcoming and attentive. All in all a lovely pre theatre treat.

As a regular visitor to the Ivy West Street we had a very disappointing experience there last night. The food was not up to standard, the service very average with the waitress making mistakes you would expect to find at a cafe, not one of the best known restaurants in London. We won’t give up on it and I’m sure will give it another go, and hope they just had a bad day and it was a one off
