The Ivy Castle View is an all-day British brasserie in the heart of Guildford, located just off the High Street, the main entrance is within the Tunsgate Quarter. With an all-encompassing menu serving modern British and international Ivy-inspired classics from dawn until dusk, the restaurant is open seven days a week and is also featuring a private dining room, outdoor terrace and a bar, offering tranquil relaxed yet sophisticated dining with beautiful views across Guildford Castle.

The food was good. In particular the sticky toffee pudding and chicken skewers. However, the service was poor considering you pay for the service. We had to ask to order drinks. When the bottle arrived he simply poured and didn't offer to taste. I've been in restaurants without service charge that offer for you to taste! My friends wine glass was empty for a while without a top up. I'd have done it for her but the bottle is always taken away for the waiter to do it for you. We had to ask for another bottle of wine by grabbing a passing waitress. We had to wait to order food too. They were very busy which meant there was a good atmosphere and the food was great but the service definitely not up to scratch. We were very much left to our own devices!

First time in this Ivy restaurant for a very pleasant lunch. The food was good, but some dishes were not quite up to scratch: the sea bass had been kept too long before being served and the steak tartare was not particularly good. Otherwise the food was enjoyable, service was excellent and ambience was good.

Really bad service, did not clear away, even left old food on the table for the next course to be served.

Lovely late lunch with set menu. Great value for money. Food was excellent, had 3 courses.

The service was not as good as previously experienced. The restaurant was in the process of rolling out the new dessert menu. We waited as requested for the new menu to be produced. After a few minutes it appeared the new menu wasn’t ready. We were shown the desserts available on a scrappy price of paper with no prices. On previous visits we have always been asked if we were celebrating anything special. We were celebrating our silver wedding anniversary. The food we had was to the usual high standard but the level of service didn’t match on this occasion.

Our waiter was outstanding. Most of the food was really wonderful. My fish curry was very tasty but sadly the prawn and monkfish were hard and over cooked. No one came to check that our food was ok until we paid. By then it was too late. The tables for two are not great. The seat on the bench leaves you lower than your partner opposite in the chair.
