    The Ivy these days is extremely hit or miss. Some of the signature dishes are extremely good: duck salad and the fishcake are worth the price. However, as soon as you walk in the sheer number of staff becomes quickly overwhelming. Our waitress was extremely nice but clearly untrained and simply repeating learned phrases. Despite asking for the bottle of wine to be left on the table she continually tried to top it up, giving the impression of trying to foist more drinks on us. My greatest disappointment was however the grilled chicken salad. Advertised on the menu as having ‘chickpeas, quinoa, radishes, endives and lettuce’ what arrived was four flaccid leaves of lettuce with 4 slabs of chicken breast slathered in dressing. On further inspection a smattering of quinoa and two solitary radishes hiding behind some endives completed the dish. There were no chickpeas to be seen. Not only was this an affront considering it cost 17 pounds, but I was also left hungry. On forgoing the dessert menu and further drinks the waitress failed to disguise her complete astonishment. I didn’t want to complain to her as staff in these chains have no respect/power, and it would have served only to make her day worse. But overall the night for me was marred by the blatant money grabbing.

    Our first trip! The staff were wonderful, kind, welcoming and attentive. The food was lovely, just the right amount of theatre. A great experience that I'm looking forward to repeating

    Have always liked the ambience and service you get at The Ivy restaurants. My only real gripe as happened once before, is sometimes the food isn’t always piping hot. Having complained in a previous Ivy they do go out of their way to rectify and replace which I do appreciate. This visit to Cambridge always very nice, but ordered same dish as partner, both came up at same time, and although it was acceptable mine was not as hot as my partners and if I’m being honest I couldn’t be bothered to mention. But next time I visit, I will make a point when I order to say that it needs to be hotter?
