Nestled in the heart of Brighton’s historic quarter, the brick-paved Lanes, The Ivy Asia Brighton is open seven days a week for lunch, dinner and much more.

Savour a menu as rich and varied as the diverse cultures that span the continent of Asia. With pan-Asian classics alongside incredible vegetarian and plant-based options, there’s something to please all. The service is SO slow for anything! We spent almost £300 on lunch and we were sat on the smallest table with another couple practically sat with us we were so tightly packed in I couldn't even squeeze past the table to go to the loo. Drinks took 25 mins on average even when paying £16 a cocktail. A bottle of wine took the same time. The food was enjoyable but not consistent. Some dishes on the premium platter were beyond a joke, especially the desert which was stale and tastless which we did mention, and nothing was compensated which is poor customer service. We did hear other diners also give them poor feedback on the desert. Sushi was average and very dry, but there were a few dishes which were OK. The tempura prawns honestly tasted the same as frozen Iceland ones. Not worth the hype! The service was friendly, but with everyone with different responsibilities you had to stop 3 people before you got the right one to take a drinks order! On two occasions our drinks sat at the bar for 10 mins until I asked the hostess to get them! Both me and my partner left feeling we would have had a better experience at Nandos.

We had a wonderful lunch for four at Ivy Asia, choosing the premium experience menu for a special birthday. Each dish was delicious and beautifully presented. The Asian flavours were authentic and the ambience luxuriously oriental. It all added up to a sumptuous meal, though the dessert was rather too much in the end.

We came last year and loved it so much we booked it early to come again. I was not told that our table was only for 2 hours, we could have sat chatting and drinking for way longer. Our first table we were put on was cafe style small more suitable for 2 people , we did ask to move and fair enough they moved us. Food portions were way smaller than we remembered from last year, and my friend and I prawn curry came very Luke warm.

Waiting for ages to order drinks, also after waiting over 90 Mins for one of the dishes from the time we ordered our food we requested to cancel the item and the waiter rather than just cancelling it argued with me to explain it was on its way. I explained to him it was on its way for 90 mins and we are done waiting. His manager cancelled the item. Slow service / more staff training needed. London service is much better by comparison. What a shame as the food was lovely.

The food was absolutely amazing - we chose the Premium experience menu for the four of us. The black cod miso was a highlight for us all - wonderful. Food is definitely 5 stars and the Ivy Provence wine complimented each dish perfectly. The review would have been a hands down 5 Star review had it not been, after paying the bill (which we hadn’t asked for as we were hoping to have coffee and liqueurs) and still having wine in our glasses, we were told we had to leave in 5 minutes as the table was required. Until this point we had been treated very well by BBC staff who engaged in conversation and were very attentive BUT it took one sole member of the team to ruin the whole experience for us with her ‘you’ve paid your bill, now leave’ attitude. Such a shame as I doubt we’d return now - even for the yummy black cod miso. 😢

Poor service, given flat coke, took 20 mins to get a replacement, when chased we were told they are extremely busy. Food order messed up, again had to chase. Then when waitress cleared table she splashed soy sauce over two guests. Manager wasn’t really that bothered, requested service charge be removed but this didn’t happen, we removed it ourselves. Extremely over rated. Much nicer Asian restaurants available more reasonably priced. Also unnecessary to have booming DJ in a restaurant. You couldn’t have a conversation. Won’t return.
