Definitely the best roast in london. Our local favourite that we visit time and time again.

Not the best service I’ve experienced. Very slow and the staff could have been more friendly

I came here for a Sunday roast with my friend and we both had such a great time. It is quite possibly the best roast beef dinner I’ve ever eaten in a pub and better than many higher end restaurants too. The service was impeccable, very efficient and friendly without being overbearing. Our waiter kindly recommended two different cocktails for us to try, one of which was the Great British Hugo and it surpassed our expectations. They also have a very nice and comprehensive wine list, and my friend thoroughly enjoyed the Mendoza Malbec. I will definitely be back regularly on Sundays for the roast and look forward to trying the a la carte menu too. A couple next to us ordered the chicken roast which we were equally very envious of as it looked incredible! I also loved the detail of an aga cooker in the dining room to keep the fresh bread warm. Nothing could be faulted and all we can say is a big thank you to the Hunter’s Moon for being the perfect end to our weekend!

Really disappointed by the service at The Hunter’s Moon, booked for Sunday lunch for a casual birthday get together, we were seated and left there for over 20 minutes, no menus, no drinks order taken and we had to flag staff down to realise we were there. Unfortunately we continued to be forgotten, we never did get the second bottle of water we asked for, had to remind about the sides we ordered. We were again left for ages post-meal and had to flag down staff to get the bill and again to get the card machine. There was a lot of staff on but they just weren’t on top of the tables and kept eyes to the ground so it was hard to get their attention. I paid the service charge but regret it. The roast meat was good, we had pork belly and beef. The Yorkshires were not good, dense, basically cornbreads, never had anything like it, and the roast potatoes tasted like oil. Not a cheap meal so I’m disappointed at the whole experience and sad as it was for a friend’s birthday, wouldn’t recommend it.

We went to The Hunters Moon while we were down in London on holiday. Over the years of holidaying in London, we have been to a few different places in London for a Sunday roast, most sadly were frozen veg, shop bought roast potatoes, shop bought Yorkshire Puddings. I had roast beef and my girlfriend had roast pork belly. It was by a massive amount the best Sunday roast we have ever had. The carrot purée that came with my roast beef was absolutely delicious. The roast potatoes and Yorkshire Pudding were both home made. The Yorkshire Pudding I had with my roast beef was easily 6 inches tall, and the roast potatoes were lovely and crisp and were absolutely delicious. Also the accompanying vegetables (which when we were there was green beans and cabbage) were all fresh veg. The roast pork belly that my girlfriend had, she informed me that it was delicious and was the best she had ever tasted, as were all the other things that came with it (roast potatoes, Yorkshire Pudding, apple sauce, cabbage and green beans). We also got a couple of side dishes. One was cauliflower with a three cheese sauce and the second was pork, sage and black pudding stuffing. These were absolutely stunning. The cheese sauce was lovely and creamy and was a nice thick consistency. The black pudding that was in the stuffing, I must admit when reading it on the menu I was unsure of, but it complimented the pork and sage in the stuffing perfectly and was absolutely delicious. The service was very quick and we waited no time at all to be seen to, and after ordering our food was fetched to the table very quickly. All the staff who attended to us were all extremely friendly. I want to thank all the staff at The Hunters Moon, for leaving us with a very happy memory for us both, and needless to say that we will be heading back to The Hunters Moon when we are next in down in London.

The perfect place for a traditional English meal. We dined on a Sunday and experienced an amazing HUGE roast! Plenty of options and the place is delightfully decorated. Highly recommend.

It was a very strange experience all round. I made a booking for 21:00 hours on Open table , but when I arrived with my daughter they appeared bewildered and said the kitchen was about to close – eventually they agreed to go ahead with seating us as the booking was in their system, but said that we needed to order immediately, which we did-a main course and a drink each. The waiting staff were never to be seen after the food arrived and eventually about half way through the meal I managed to beckon a waiter to order 2 more drinks ( a glass of wine and a Diet Coke) only to be told that the bar had closed-it was 9.45pm. I said that no member of staff had come to us to inform us of this in advance and check whether we wished to order anything else, as is customary in the majority of restaurants. The waiter then proceeded to launch into rather a rant saying “do you have any idea of the day we’ve had?“ I replied that obviously I did not, but failed to see the relevance to us or our treatment as paying customers. he walked off and so I went to the bar in the main pub area to request the drinks, but he returned saying that he had already refused. He then asked whether I had made a booking or whether we were a walk-in and I confirmed that we had booked and enquired as to the relevance of the question as he seemed to be implying that we would be treated differently, which he denied. We were still eating our mains (my roast beef was very tough and stringy), but he enquired as to whether we wish to order dessert – I said obviously not since we now had no drinks to accompany our food in any event. He then left, but returned a few minutes later and stated that since we were clearly not happy, he was prepared, out of the goodness of his heart, but with no apology, to provide us with the two further drinks requested. We found him extremely rude and felt that he dealt with the situation very ungraciously. The whole experience was rather bizarre and definitely not one to be repeated.
